Evil Dead Burn!
Yeah, I said here that I was throwing in the towel on all the old 80's horror franchises, but I'll stick it through for Evil Dead until I at least know the titles.
Well, the one pitched by Sebastien Vanicek is now called "Evil Dead Burn" and is coming out first.
Thus, is officially Evil Dead 6.
Making the one by Francis Galluppi officially Evil Dead 7.
Which still hasn't picked a title, but I guess there's time.
Unless the world blows up or something.
Then we won't need horror movies, it'll be life.
Whee!!

MCU least-loved sequels revisit.
AKA: So, Marvel...Part 2.
My observations on these two flicks kind of evolved into a sequel.
This is more on the political/moral philosophy of Marvel rather than the business side of things.
Which makes it a better companion to the DC one.

So, digging around for something else, I found this...

It's all cringe.
I hate it.

Building up to today.....

I said everything I wanted to about Afterlife in my quadrilogy and ATC comparison review I think.

Well, I was wrong.
He's not a Trumper.
He hates Trump.
He thinks he'll win, but he hates him.
But! He's still pro-gun; he did a weird "let's kill school shooters" movie that got distributed by The Daily Wire, and he's "just asking questions" about covid vaccines.

Lily Cade is a fucking monster.
Way back here, I praised Lily Cade.
Redhead lesbian pornstar. Absolutely will not do guys.
Well!! She's a transphobe.
Not dog-whistle transphobe either.
She's outright called for the death of trans people by hanging.
She's fucking evil.
The tag below says it. Whoops, my bad.
I updated this on Facebook, but forgot to get around to it here.
Covid was raging, and Trump was president; I had other things on my mind.
There's apparently a lot of TERF-hood in the lesbian community that I hadn't heard about.
Makes sense. They'd get indoctrinated with the same "you might find a pee-pee!!" fear as hetero men.
Everyone's got some weird irrationality in them that can be twisted.
Oh, and she has assault allegations from other lady pornstars.
So, yeah, no more Lily Cade for me.
Jesus, porn is hazardous.
Lily Cade's a rapey lynch-bigot. Mercedes Carrera is a pedo. Ron Jeremy is a rapist. Brandi Love is a Trumper.
It's a bummer.
Well, actually, when you think of it, porn has a lower percentage of evil wackos than straight Hollywood.
Earth is an odd place. No wonder we frighten the aliens.

So, I might be dead next year.
Or wishing I was.

Fixed Jade-shade.
I've struggled over whether to tear that whole thing the fuck down, like I did Emergence Saga, or what.
I decided the better fix was a little more art.
So, I wrote "Quantum Defrag" as an extra quickie final chapter, and added it to the Harry Hembock and Jade-Shade pages.
I guess I was working through some shit when I started that thing.
I've grown since then.
Painfully, but I got there.
That one little note Volcano Guru leaves sums it all up.

QD:Season 3, Chapter 1. (Quantum Defrag)
2013
January 14th
The Volcano Guru materialized in Dusty Irwin's apartment, and made some adjustments, and left.
Dusty awoke from a nightmare.
The usual one.
"Fuckin memories...fuckin life", he mumbled.
Dustin "Dusty", Irwin lay on his fold-away bed in his rat hole apartment staring up at the ceiling.
It was all but decided at this point.
Maybe the world was too fucked up to fix.
Maybe nothing we do matters.
Maybe ideals are pathetic past a certain age.
Maybe what "you're supposed to do", is sell out, and have your dumb safe little life.
Dusty shook his head for the fiftieth time this afternoon, and whispered "I just can't do it", for the thirtieth.
"If it doesn't matter...then I can do what I want anyway", Dusty grumbled.
He rolled over, and looked at the the kitchen chair expecting the Jade-Shade costume to be there.
Instead, there was a note.
"Only peace brings peace. Only just acts create justice -The Volcano Guru".
Dusty looked at the note, and rethought his whole plan.
2024
October 21st.
Volcano Guru watched Dusty's violent path vanish, and another take shape.
A better one.
One without bloodthirsty crypto-fascist vigilantes.
Volcano Guru put his fists on his hips, and said "there, that's done".
THE END.

RIP Phil Donahue.
From my future self in 9/18/24.
Jeez, stop to read one little book, and everything goes to shit.
Yep, us pinko liberals lost one of our best guys.
We never ever got a talk show as good as his ever again. In my humble opinion.
There are some podcasts that come close; but Phil was the king.
Towards the end, his show got more Jerry Springer-ish to claw for ratings.
That was a bummer. Fuck the 90's for its addiction to trash.
Then, he came back for a brief stint on MSNBC.
MSNBC weren't themselves yet; they were trying a mix of liberal and conservative leaning into conservative, and Phil got fired for being anti-war during the ratcheting up to Iraq.
Dennis Miller they fucking kept though. Ugh.
Maybe if Phil had been allowed to stick around, I wouldn't have drunk the "War On Terror" mind-poison.
Infuriating that the current uber-liberal MSNBC never got him back.
I can understand him wanting to give them the finger forever. I get it.
Well, I'm finally caught up to Phil anyway.
Every year older I get, the more anti-gun and anti-war I get.
When every war you try to believe in turns into a quagmire of atrocities, you start to clue in.
Unless you have a lot of concussions, or have lead in your pipes.
I have a theory, more a hunch, that the only reason conservatism continues to hold any sway in our political discourse at all is lead poisoning.
Anyway!! Full salute to the last great talk show host.
Alan Alda is gonna bum me out just as bad.
Not looking forward to that.

Happy 49th birthday to myself!
(Sent back in time from 7/31/24)
The actual day was kinda boring.
Ate cake and ice cream.
Whoopidy doo.
Other than the birthday chow, it was my usual day of fighting trolls on boards, and Trek on TV.
Got all my "get out of the house" shit done the day before.
Renewing my license, cashing some checks, getting some groceries.
Well, saw a cute girl to make into a book character.
These poor random people don't know I'm putting a cut n' paste box around them and hitting "save". 😏
Saw "Deadpool & Wolverine" the previous Friday.
Yeah, I guess that was my big present to myself.
Got some loot shopping to do, but not much excites me.
It's gonna be a slow peck, peck, peck as I find stuff I like.
I think the actor's strike threw all the movies out of whack.
Usually I have a pile of flicks to collect around this time.
Nope, everything's finally fucking coming out in the theater now.
Bummed about almost being 50.
Well...not bummed.
Just...philosophically weirded out.
Half a century.
I do feel like an old wizard who's seen a lot of shit.
Have a grey stripe in my beard, so the wizard look is coming along.
I have a good memory for the history I've been through to tell the kiddies.
And I'm not a boring storyteller like the Grandpa Simpsons out there.
No one cares where the old fucking gas station was, get to the meat of the story, you dumb coot!!
Anyway!
I know how to rewind things going on now to their prequel, and tell it well with minimum bullshit.
I got that going for me.
That haunts me.
Well, add it to my wizard trauma pile.
Well, I lost them because they wouldn't listen to my wizard wisdom.
TERFism is the 80's gay/AIDS panic in new wrapping paper.
They don't "make good points". It's all old shit on repeat.
Why don't my fellow gen-xers remember this shit?
It's fucking infuriating.
Oh yeah, and last year, we lost Paul Reubins and Sinead O'Connor my birthday week.
Pee-Wee landed right on my friggin' birthday.
So I have that to remember forever.
Sheesh!
So, that's me at 49.
I'll put a link HERE for the loot hunt.
Stay tuned.

12 years of the Harry Hembock books!
Been three years since Margaret passed.
My grieving is finally all done.
That really beat the shit out of me.
I said it best about my philosophical reflection about the books last year.
Also said last year.....
Aaand, I'm working on my new book.
I keep chunking away on it year after year.
A book's only 300-400 pages.
It can't be written forever.
I have to get there someday.
Well, shit, I must have about 300-400 pages in notes by now!
I just gotta roll up my sleeves, and convert that shit into prose.
Yeah, basically, I have the book in powdered mix form; just gotta mix and cook that sunna-bitch!
Stay tuned!!

Happy 35th anniversary, Ghostbusters 2!!
-27th (Mere observance)
-28th (Ditto)
-29th (I observe the IDW comics pick up from TVG)
-30th (GB2 and ATC align politically)
-31st (Brownstone Boy to direct Afterlife)
-32nd (Afterlife delayed by covid)
-33rd (Afterlife arrived, Frozen Empire announced)
-34th (Frozen Empire teaser poster)
And the 15th for GBTVG.
..and now, next year, I can lump 27-35 together as this one link.
Yep, Frozen Empire had plenty of GB2 direct references and Easter eggs.
A clip of the walking Statue of Liberty on the news, mood slime, slime blowers being tested in the background of one scene, Ghostbusters 2 logo mugs, Ray's Occult Books again.
I only wish Jason Reitman had shown up as grownup Brownstone boy.
And, like I said in the GBFE review, this was the Ghostbusters 2 I wanted as a kid in 1989.
That being said, I'm glad this one existed to build off of, and I've grown to love it over the years.
It's a time capsule for where the fandom was, and a reunion for the cast.
Ain't nothing bad about that.
Oh, and they use the tech of keeping ghosts in proton charged aquariums introduced in GBTVG.
They don't acknowledge the events of the game, but that's a nice little nod to it.
So, yeah, finally respect for GB2 in the nick of time for year 35.
😎👍

Happy 25th Anniversary, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace!!
From my future self in 9/20/24
Last time-
Boy, that flew by, huh?
A quarter century!!
A baby born when the flick came out likely has their own kids!
Damn!
So where are we now?
Last time, I bitched about the internet howler monkeys; and now, even sites like "Honest Trailers" who used to cater to that crowd are sick of them.
Their "The Acolyte" review mocked how every single Star Wars thing since TPM is "the worst Star Wars ever that's killing the franchise".
Well, if Acolyte is the new worst thing ever, and it's set 20 years before TPM, then it's the new worst prequel.
Chronologically as well as in artistic merit.
Guess it's time to leave poor TPM alone, huh?
No? It doesn't work that way?
Because reasons?
Huh.
Yeah, Generation X just has to fucking die.
People born in '99 or later think the prequels are fine.
Oh, they like TPM least, and "Revenge Of The Sith" best, but no one's all "kill Jar-Jar!! Oh my gaaawwwwdd!! This movie raped meeee!!!!".
We're enough time out to see it really was/is just a Generation X problem.
And really only a screamy minority of my age cohort.
Hey, why don't all you brilliant discriminating sophisticates read Neil Gaiman and Ursula Le Guin?
No? Huh.
It was never about real criticism, and wanting things that are good, and more about tribal approval.
"Loudest monkey in the room" shit.
I called it then, but there's no wiggle room now.
The worm has finally turned on internet drama queens.
....I hope.
There's a pile of Star Wars flicks in development, but none of them really excite me.
And just like the prequels, I'll believe in them when I see them.
I'm not gonna stare at the calendar and the clock like with "Freddy vs Jason" ever again.
Nope.
Maybe I was just supposed to go along with the herd for the sake of having more friends.
Hate the prequels because I'm supposed to.
Worship "The Matrix" because I'm supposed to.
Worship Harry Potter because I'm supposed to.
Make excuses for JK Rowling because....yeah, that's where they lose me.
That's where it stops being hip and cute.
Driving Ahmed Best, Jake Lloyd, and Kelly Marie Tran to the brink of suicide wasn't hip and cute either.
Can we stop handing these miserable shitheels the "they just love the franchise so very much" card?
Can we just kick them out of the fandom, and cordon them off in some gutter?
Can we?
Is that a big ask?
Is pointing out "if you're that cruel and gross, you don't really love anything" so damned hard for the media?
We say it about fucking wife beaters.
Anti-fans are wife beaters of culture.
Let's kick 'em out and get restraining orders on them like wife beaters.
Really, if it's just about "I don't like this movie" they've had 25 years to get over it.
Christ, the Holiday Special is worse, and people have fun with that.
That's where it really all falls apart. Hipster fans are able to be ironic and goofy with the Holiday Special, but they turn around and act like TPM killed John Wick's puppy.
Die already.
Hmm, Holiday Special is 47.
Guess we have to wait 22 more years for it to cool all the way down?
I'll be 71 and having stents and a watchman installed.
Yipee.
See you then!! 😃.....😔
I'll retro link this to "Happy seventeenth Star Wars day".

"Superman '25" Superman!!
In case the title confuses you, I said last Gunn-verse update...
OH!! And I'm super late with this.
The title is no longer "Superman Legacy" but just "Superman".
That's just goddamned inconvenient.
Now we have to call this one "Superman '25" to separate it from "Superman '78".
Like "Batman '89" and "Batman '66".
Thanks, James Gunn.

Happy seventeenth Star Wars day!
15th (Boba-Fett, Obi-Wan).
16th (Andor, Obi, Mando 3, Ahsoka)
Stuff since last time-
Man, I really haven't been keeping up....
-"Ahsoka" dropped.
-The placeholder title for the ancient prequel by James Mangold is "Rise of the Jedi".
-The official title for the Mando-verse Infinity War movie by Dave Filoni is simply "The Mandalorian and Grogu" and will be dropping first.
-The placeholder title for the post-TROS Rey movie by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is "New Jedi Order".
-The second series of "Tales of the Jedi" is "Tales of the Empire". That drops...today, it seems.
-Season 2 of Obi-Wan is dead.
-Season 2 of "Andor" is going ahead.
-"The Acolyte" is the next big (live-action) thing about to drop. I barely cared before, but its got Carrie Anne Moss as a Jedi, so now I'm interested.
-The Disney Star Wars stuff that was behind the iron Disney+ curtain has started dropping on disk.
Ditto the Marvel shows. Go figure.
-All 11 movies played non-stop on FX.
Update: Oh, shit! Next year is the 20th anniversary of "Revenge of the Sith" and the 10th for "The Force Awakens"!!

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Another franchise I slacked off on.
Because, like "Tron: Ares" its been stuck in development Hell for a decade.
Well, Tron a little over, Furiosa a little under.
So, I guess I'm seeing this one.
Anya Taylor-Joy is the younger Furiosa.
Cuz Charlize Theron aged out of the role of her younger self.
Thanks, foot-dragging Hollywood suits.
Ah, well, Anya's cool too.
Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta!!) are also in it.
Hemsworth is the main baddie.
It's baby-Furiosa vs Evil Thor.
Two trailers dropped. here's those.
So, we finally have good shit this summer out the other end of the covid tunnel.
Now, we just have to keep Trump from being re-elected so there'll still be a world next year.

Untitled Alien FX series.
Produced by Noah Hawley (he of "Legion" fame).
Happens after Prometheus and Covenant, but doesn't reference them.
Series lead, Sydney Chandler.
Okay, what is it with all our post-Ripley Alien-verse lady protagonists being little elves?
Noomi Rapace, elf.
Katherine Waterston, elf.
Cailee Spaeny, elf.
Did they really break the mold when they made Sigourney Weaver?
They really don't make any more of those?
Hmm, okay. Not mad, just saying.
Anyway!! FX lets you have gore and f-bombs. It's the HBO of basic cable.
So, it won't be watered down at all.

RIP Daniel Dennett.
The only remaining good one of the "Four Horsemen".
And he's gone, so so fucking much for horsemen.
Hitchens mongered "The War On Terror".
Which I also fell for, but his endorsement didn't fucking help.
And now he's gone.
Sam Harris is a bigot piece of shit.
Richard Dawkins is a bigot piece of shit.
In fact, he's gotten worse since I last posted about him!
He and JK Rowling are mis-gendering a cis woman for fuck's sakes!!
Non-conforming cis women are always next.
Always. It never stops at passive transphobia.
And it always starts with "just asking questions" and gets worse.
I've had an ex-friend go full Nazi that way, another go full-on conspiracy bonkers that way, and another (a Brit) go Brexit and "Hunters laptop" that way.
And I know two other idiots who are "just asking questions" concern-TERFs who are a strong breeze away from going ugly.
And all of these idiots before "Grima Wormtongue" came at me with his bullshit, and helped ruin two other friendships.
So, to say I'm sick of this alt-right bigot merry-go-round is an understatement.
I've scrubbed all traces of Grima from my life. He's dead to me.
So yeah, fuck the horseman shtick.
Dan Dennett was smart to quietly and deftly drift away from that whole thing.
I don't know why I didn't cover Dan's death in April when it happened.
May is when the whole TERF clusterfuck erupted on my social media, so that jackassery waylaid me.
Dunno what was going on in April.
I guess there were warning signs.
Grima was getting on me at every turn for defending "woke"
And/or not calling TERFs "gender critical" or "people with legitimate concerns" or whatever.
So, it was brewing.
Probably what subliminally egged me on to do my "Craft Legacy" review.
Anyway, Dennett didn't get sucked up into all that.
Indeed, again, he walked away from the horsemen club.
That proves he was the brilliant one.
Dawkins stole everything from Dennett, Darwin, and Bertrand Russell, anyway.
He was just a content repackager.
He was Dennett's pitbull.
Dennett didn't need a pitbull. At least not Dawkins, anyway.
Took a lot of painful hindsight to see all this though.
So, yeah, full Arnold Rimmer super-salute to the one horseman worth a damn.
