Halloween Four!!!!

Yep, once more, as it was last year, and the year before, tomorrow is October, so the Halloween marathon has rotated back around yet again.

So, here's the previous ones again if you want a refresher....

Halloween 1, 80's slashers.

Halloween 2, classic monsters.

Halloween 3, Masters Of Horror.

And, like last year, I jumped the gun, and did a shitload of reviewing, and had an early En-Mike-lopedia.

Here's that.

En-Mike-lopedia 4.

So, most of your Halloween goodies are already in there.

Now, as I announced here, the bigass marathon you're used to is cancelled.

The topic was supposed to be "Based On A True Story", and I made a two part mission statement on what that was supposed to entail.
Here, and here.

Meh, I figure with that ranting alone, I covered what I wanted to say with it. Going through the motions of the reviews would just be repeating myself while adding gloomy drudge work.

So, what I'm gonna do instead, is update the topics of the first 3 Halloweens over the next 3 days or so. Those are the Halloween subjects I enjoy anyway.

See you tomorrow.

Crossovers #40!!

Yeah, I said no more crossovers, but I also said...

The only ones I really want to update, are the Simpsons/Family Guy and Simpsons/Futurama episodes when they come out.

So, here we are.

Family Guy:
The Simpsons Guy (2014)

It just aired, and I loved it.

Was it the best episode of either series?
No.
Did I expect that?
No.
Do I think less of the intelligence of anyone who did?
Yep.

As a crossover, however, it was perfect.
Everything you'd want.
Similar/parallel characters meet, funny interactions, everything you'd want them to say or do was done, both series brutally roasted, Homer and Peter fight, etc, etc.

It was the Freddy vs Jason/World's Finest/Batman vs Hulk of animated sitcoms.

And, it felt so...RIGHT.
I wanted the shows to permanently fuse, they belong together.
I felt the same way about Superman/Fantastic Four.

Now, bring on Simpsorama!

Happy 3rd ThatGalaxyNextDoor Day!!

You made it, Hyla!
Yours is as old as mine was when we met back up.
You're an experienced veteran now.

His own retrospective is up now, so hop on over.

The Cannon canon.

I said here...

When I get this, I already plan to link the review to every Cannon film I've reviewed.

So, figured I'd throw together a list now, to make it all one handy link then.

Here goes...

Hercules (1983)
The Adventures of Hercules (1985)

See here.

Sword Of The Valiant (1984)

See here.

Exterminator 2 (1984)

See here.

Lifeforce (1985)

See here, and here.

Invaders From Mars (1986)

See here, and here.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (1986)

See here, here, here, here, and here.

Over The Top (1987)

See here.

Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987)

See here.

Masters Of The Universe (1987)

See here.

So, basically, Cannon was Troma with movie stars.

The shit on my walls (Part 10).

Part 9.

Slight revision...

Mosaic of "Rewind This!", "Adjust Your Tracking", "Leviathan", and "Electric Boogaloo".
Replaces this one from here.
There, that looks better, and feels right.

Documentaries I want (Number 11)

Well, here we go, made it past 10.
Wanted to hold it there, as a nice balanced even number, but then this shows up...

Electric Boogaloo:
The Wild, Untold Story Of Cannon Films!
(2014)

Title pretty much says it all.

When I get this, I already plan to link the review to every Cannon film I've reviewed.
Cuz, like "Rewind This!", and "Adjust Your Tracking", I feel this one will kind of put the period at the end of that sentence.
If that makes sense.

So, yeah, 11...

And books...

Happy Fall!

Its been cold enough to pack away the box fan for about a week, and I saw leaves start to change around the end of August.
Bye, bye, summer.
Got a LOT of shit done.
One for the books.

And hey, made it without a family member or pet dying.
There's a new twist! Let's see if it can be the start of a lucky streak.

Right now, the trees are green, with sprinklings of red, like last fall.
In fact, less red than last year.
Wonder if the cycle is going to keep being backed up a month, or if next fall will be more fall-y.

Well, enjoy the season while it lasts.
Winter will be up in our business in no time.

And now, the Marvel version!

The DC one.

Marvel also revealed their timeline, and as you can guess, they have their shit together.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron
(May 1, 2015)

See here, and chase the links backward.

Ant-Man (July 17, 2015)

Edgar Wright dropped out of this.
A pall of doom hangs over it, and they're going to have to work a miracle to prove me wrong.
They probably will.
They're fucking Marvel.

Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016)

The directors have said the title (thus the implied plot) for this one is coming real soon.

Also, Cap didn't back down, and "Dawn Of Justice", blinked first, and moved its release date.
That doesn't sound like much if you're in the future, and it isn't, but it was quite the soap opera for a few weeks.

Dr. Strange (July 8, 2016)

Marvel reeeeeaaaally, really, REALLY wants Joaquin Phoenix for the role, but he's a'fraidy skeered of the commitment, or the challenges, or something.

He certainly can't be skeered of the money.

???  (May 5, 2017)

Yep, mystery movies on this timeline too.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
(July 28, 2017)

Can't. Fucking. Wait.

???  (November 3, 2017)
???  (May 4, 2018)
???  (July 6, 2018)
???  (November 2)
???  (May 3, 2019)

Now, unlike DC, Marvel KNOWS what these films all are, in fact, they've got it plotted out until 2028!!

Like last time, here's the films that haven't been slotted into the timeline yet.

Avengers 3 (???)

Of course. This is the whole point of phase 3.
This has to go up there either before or after Guardians 2.
If after, then what goes before?
Why, it could be....

Black Panther (???)

Stan Lee keeps confirming and re-confirming the hell out of this one.

No studio confirmation or casting yet, but I'm considering this one solid.

Black Widow Solo Movie (???)

Marvel has said they flat out want to do this one.
Especially after "Winter Soldier".
Word is, she has an even bigger role in "Age Of Ultron", so they're priming her for a franchise for sure.

These next ones are a bit more iffy...

Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel (???)

This one's mostly fanboy wishing and begging, but 40% of it is possibility.
The name has been tossed around by the studio.

Punisher 3 (???)

All right, this one is also mostly my fanboy dreaming, but it's gone from 100% against to just 60% against in the last couple weeks.
  1. Marvel got the rights back.
  2. The directors of "Winter Soldier", have said the driver of the yellow Penske truck in that film was The Punisher, and that this might be made official with a Marvel One Shot.
  3. There's going to be the Daredevil series, and Punisher exists in the Daredevil-verse, so they could use that series to build Punisher up even more after his one-shot.
  4. Agent Carter got a show after her one-shot.
I'm just saying...

Now, iffy as those are...they gotta fill those slots with something.
And if the slots are filled with secret other movies...between now and 2028, those have to happen in some form.
If not between now and 2019, then some fucking day.
Shit, Howard the goddamned Duck came back.

And, that's that.
The end, again.

DC Cinematic Universe updates.

DC has released a timeline of their future slate of flicks, so, let's go through that in post form....

Batman v Superman:
Dawn Of Justice.
(2016)

Sequel to "Man Of Steel".
With Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

Coming May 2016.

Shazam (2016)

With Dwayne "The Rock", Johnson as Black Adam.

DC has said this isn't part of the Man Of Steel/Dawn Of Justice/Justice League universe.
They're not going for full integration Marvel style after all.

Coming July 2016.

???  (August, 2016)

First of these, and there's a lot of them.

Sandman (2016)

See here.

Another self contained one.
Produced by, starring, and possibly directed by Joseph Gordon Levitt, being written by David Goyer with input and assistance by Neil Gaiman.

Slated for Christmas of 2016.

Justice League (2017)

Sequel to "Dawn Of Justice", Cavill, Affleck, and Gadot will be back, natch.
Also on board will be Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Lantern, and Flash.
Jason Mamoa (Game Of Thrones, Conan remake) is supposed to be Aquaman, but he refuses to confirm it.

They'll be fighting Darkseid like in "Justice League: War".

Coming May 2017.

??? (June 23, 2017)

'Nother one of these....

Wonder Woman (2017)

Spinoff of "Dawn Of Justice", and "Justice League", starring Gal Gadot of course.

Almost 40 years after Linda Carter left the airwaves, Wonder Woman finally gets her solo big screen debut.
But no, no sexism in Hollywood, really.
Honest.

??? (November 11, 2017)

'Nother one of these....

Flash and Green Lantern team-up (2017)

Presumably, another spinoff of "Justice League".

??? (March 23, 2018)

'Nother one...

Man Of Steel 2 (2018)

Poor Henry Cavill.
His franchise gets hijacked because DC wants to copy Marvel, and play catch up.
It takes 5 damned years for him to get his next movie to himself.

Anyway, comes out May 2018.

??? (July 27, 2018)
??? (April 5, 2019)
??? (June 14, 2019)
??? (April 3, 2020)
??? (June 19, 2020)

Like I told you at the start, crapload of these suckers.

So, those are the release slots with no movie.
Now, for movies with no release date....

Aquaman (???)

Spinoff of "Dawn Of Justice", and "Justice League".
Jason Mamoa presumed to be Aquaman.

New Solo Batman (??? 2019)

Another "Dawn Of Justice", "Justice League", spinoff.
Presumably starring Ben Affleck.

Goes into one of the 2019 slots above.
That's right, 2019.
20-fucking-19.
7 years after "The Dark Knight Rises", we finally get a new fucking Batman movie.

Oh, no, DC, you're not fumbling this at all.

Justice League: Dark (???)

Guillermo del Toro still hasn't given up on this.

This would seem to clash with the Constantine series, but the movie Flash will co-exist with series Flash, and Brandon Routh Superman co-existed with Smallville Clark Kent just fine, and the universe didn't break.

I just want Swamp Thing onscreen with all his elemental powers.
The rest will be gravy.

Legion Of Superheroes (???)

A faint rumor so far, but they'd BETTER be making some of these fucking flicks, or else what are they gonna fill those fucking slots with?
There's 9 of the fucking things!!

Suicide Squad (???)

See "Batman: Assault On Arkham".

David Ayer wants to direct.

I just want live-action Harley Quinn.
The rest is gravy.

Harley was supposed to be the core villain of Batman 5, before the Burton/Schumaker franchise collapsed, and she's been skipped over ever since.
Shit, they rehashed Two-Face and Bane before they got to Harley.
In that respect, she's the Wonder Woman of villains.
This flick would fix that once and for all, and be 1000 times better than Batman 5 would have been.

Assuming they make every last one of these, that still leaves 4 slots to fill.
I'm assuming Justice League, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman sequels have to be in the mix.

And, that's those.
The end.

See you in 20-fucking-20 for how all this worked out.

Marvel/DC TV update.

Okay, let's start with Marvel...

S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming back. Duh.
Lucy Lawless, and Patton Oswalt are joining as full time cast members.
Crusher Creel, The Absorbing Man, is going to be a guest villain.
Mockingbird will be a guest hero, played by almost-Wonder Woman.

Agent Carter (2014)

A sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger", and prequel to "Iron Man".

Starring Peggy Carter from "The First Avenger", "Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter", and "Winter Soldier", Howard Stark from "First Avenger", and featuring Edwin Jarvis the butler, who was the basis for Jarvis, Tony Stark's computer (who in turn will become The Vision in "Age Of Ultron").

Daredevil (2014)

Starring Charlie Cox, the dude from "Stardust".
No images of him in-suit yet.
Placeholder pic there for now.
Also, Vincent D'Onofrio will be The Kingpin.

The first of the Netflix shows that'll merge to form The Defenders.

Powers (2014)

A cop show set in a world of superheroes, where human cops solve superhero/villain related crimes.

Based on a comic made by one of Marvel's spinoff lines.
Close enough.

Now, DC....

Of course, Arrow is coming back.

This season, Brandon Routh will return to the DC universe as Ray Palmer, The Atom.
Kewl!

Then, there's...

The Flash (2014)

John Wesley Shipp the original Flash, and Amanda Pays, the original Tina McGee as the NEW Tina McGee will guest star.

Rumors are strong Firestorm will pop up.
The human identity of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond, for sure is going to be in it.

Gotham (2014)

The Batman prequel with no Batman.
People are scoffing, but they have a short memory.
They watched 10 years of fucking "Smallville", with no actual Superman in it.
Dumbasses.

Anyhoo, looks interesting.
I'll check it out.

Constantine (2014)

They've nailed the tone and the look.
Let's hope they can deliver the goods.

The producers have said they want to involve every Vertigo character.

*Crosses fingers* come oooon, Swamp Thing!
Come ooooon, Swamp Thing!!!

izombie (2014)

From here.

"iZombie", based on a fairly new comic, a crime thriller about a female mortician who's a closet zombie, who when she eats a brain, gains the memories of the person, so she uses it to solve crimes. Also, eating brains makes her pass for human for awhile.

Nothing more than the pic.
Stars the sister of the dead girl in "The Lovely Bones".

Supergirl (2014, or 2015)

Another placeholder image (see Daredevil above)

No word on casting, or anything.
DC just pulled the idea out of their asses a week or so ago.

No casting or pics for "Preacher", but Seth Rogan and Evan Golberg ("This Is The End") are producing.
AMC has picked it up for series.
"Son of a preacher man", will be the theme.

No word at all on "Hourman".
That looks dead, but you never know....

So, that's way more than last time, when everything from DC was just talk.
