All right, let's talk that GBFE trailer.

Previously-

All right, last time, the identity of our cast even was a mystery; we don't have that this time.
But! There's a lot more going on this time!

So, the GBFE trailer dropped today (go see it if you haven't!), let's look under the hood!

Okay, so we start with people playing on the beach to "Cruel Summer" and then icicles attack.
Like Jaws if he could burrow.

Then the ice spreads all over New York, finally ending up at the Ghostbusters firehouse.

Then, we get the refurbished Ecto-1.
No more of that rusty version.
They junk-ified her in Ghostbusters 2, and Afterlife, enough of that already.

Patton Oswalt narrates that people have indeed frozen to death, and we see a couple carcasses.
This new villain plays for keeps.

A bunch of stuff flickers by, and we finally get the first onscreen spoken lines when Phoebe says "what is it?". Don't worry, everything I skipped past, we get again with better looks.
Anyway, we see Phoebe and Podcast have gotten bigger.

Kumail Nanjiani gives reaction face.

Ray explains "the death chill" and how it turns fear into ice, and is indeed lethal.
So, it seems a variation on Ghostbusters 2's baddie turning anger into pink slime.
Except on a bigger scale, and more ruthless and deadly.

Winston gives reaction face.

Peter gives reaction face.
And now all three surviving original guys are in this trailer.
They were kept top secret in Afterlife in spite of the internet totally leaking they were in there.
This time, no bullshit, here they are.

Ice slices its way into the interior of the firehouse like knives through carrot cake.

Ice pins Callie, Gary, and Trevor.
And Trevor clearly has a new kind of proton gun.

A horn monster hooks his/her horns on.
Shades of Daggoth from "Conan The Destroyer".

James Acaster makes reaction face.
He looks like a cross between Holtzmann and Kevin.
Plus, our first glimpse of a Ghostbuster red winter jacket.

Gary, Callie, Phoebe, and a better look at the new packs.
They still look like cobbled parts and wires; they don't look like futuristic 2020's consumer electronics or nothing. Still that 80's-ish look, but a newer model.

Ray, Podcast, Phoebe, and our first actual look at Patton Oswalt.
We never get a look at Emily Alyn Lind.
They left her out.

Lucky getting frozen, and Ray saying "the last thing you see, is your tears ducts freezing".
Life and death are blurry in the Ghostbusters universe, even more so when you bring cryonics into the picture. I think the victims might be revivable.
Also, we get an even better look at a new pack.

Evil Elsa as I call it.
It has a female figure.
And it has horns if you squint real hard, so it's the horn creature.
This our main baddie.
No more Gozer or Vigo.

Trevor, Callie, Gary, and Phoebe in a clearer look at the new GB winter coats.
A third look at both the new packs and the guns.

I skipped a bunch of stuff, but it was just other looks at the characters we see in these pics.
There's a scene of Trever firing off an old-style pack, but we saw that last movie.
I think we're good there.

So, that's it.
The big mystery is who the ice-entity is.
"The death chill" is what it wields, not who it is.

We also don't know the character names of Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Alyn Lind, and James Acaster.
Nor why  Emily Alyn Lind is hidden from us so far.

This picks up right after Afterlife, so there's no more "what happened in the last 30 years?" questions to sort out.
Looks like we're jumping right into this one.
Like "The Empire Strikes Back". Which also started with snow and ice.

We don't get any minion ghosts.
No Munchers, or Slimers, or Mini-Puffs.
Guess they didn't want anything cute here.
They're going for full scary.
It works.

I guess that's everything.

EDIT: Whoops! I forgot the stone lion!
Y'know what? You can't miss it. Don't worry about it.

See you next time for more trailers, posters, stills, toys, foods, and whatever else comes next...
