Terminator franchise update (part 2)

Part 1.

Argh, Keerist, it just keeps pouring out!
What a week!

So, EW just gave the basic plot.

A Terminator goes back to try to kill Sarah Conner at 9 years old, and it kills her parents.
Another good Terminator played by Arnold goes back to save her, raise her, and try to keep the timeline of T1 and T2 on course.
This is how he ages up to old-Arnold by the timeframe of this film.
Kyle Reese from 2029 is sent back to 1984 to complete his destiny as John Connor's dad in T1, and finds the timeline drastically altered.

Click here for the details, and the two covers showing all the non-Arnold characters.
Yeah, I feel dirty pimping EW, but it's the right thing to do....

Sony-Spidey cinematic universe updates.

The not quite flop, but poor reception of "Amazing 2", has left them floundering, scrambling, and non-committal, but here's their fuzzy blurry outline.

Sinister Six (November 11, 2016)

This one has been pushed front and center.
Having villains be the stars is weird, but...there's going to be "Suicide Squad", so...okay.

Untitled female superhero movie (2017)

Female superhero, Spidey-verse, narrows it down pretty significantly to either Black-Cat, or Spider-Woman.
It'll probably be Black-Cat, or someone I've never heard of, but I'm crossing my fingers REALLY hard for Jessica Drew.

Amazing Spider-Man 3 (2018)

The critic/fan thrashing of "Amazing 2", seems to have scared the shit out of them, and they've moved this way down from 2016 to figure out what the fuck to do with themselves.
See next entry for the rest....

Venom/Carnage (???)

This one's suddenly in trouble.

No one can get clear word why, but the popular theory is that Venom/Carnage will now be the lead villains for "Amazing 3", to try to rescue it.

This is all a bunch of clumsy-assed amateur juggling here, no wonder the rumors are that Sony is now willing to consider loaning Spidey back out to Marvel for an Avengers team-up.

So, that's the Sony mess.

X-Men cinematic universe update (part 2)

Part 1.

Okay, this is old news that was reported back in May, but by way of making everything complete, here goes...

Channing Tatum is taking over the role of Gambit, and he'll be introduced in "X-Men: Apocalypse", then get his own spinoff flick.

Marvel Cinematic Universe news (part 4).

Ope, here's the official logos...

Those'll come in handy for future posts...

And here's a look back at phase 1, and phase 2.
Ah, memories.
Particularly phase 1...shit I thought THAT was a big deal.
But back then, it was, superhero movies were like grains of gold in a sifting pan up until then.
Who knew Marvel would eat Hollywood?

Marvel Cinematic Universe news (part 3).

Ho-ly shit! Marvel dropped their big bomb, and ate DC's lunch once again.

So, here's all of phase three, no more pussyfooting.
And it's the biggest phase yet!

So, after "Age Of Ultron", and "Ant-Man", comes...

Captain America: Civil War
(May 6th, 2016)

Robert Downey Junior and Chris Evans showed up together at the presentation.
Essentially, this will be Avengers 2.5.
Really, "Winter Soldier", was Avengers 1.5.
The Cap films set the tone for each phase.

Dr. Strange (Nov. 4th, 2016)

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2
(May 5th, 2017)

See last time.

Thor: Ragnarok (July 18th, 2017)

See here for Dark World.

Black Panther (November 3, 2017)

Confirmed at last!!
Stan The Man was right.
Plus, it was easter-egged all the way back at "Iron Man 2".
Anyhoo, this fills in the first of the five mystery slots.

Above is the official concept art for the costume.
And, the role is cast, and he'll be played by Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman showed up as the third guy with Downey and Evens, and it was revealed Black Panther will debut in "Civil War".

Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1
(May 4th, 2018)

Yep, a two-parter Avengers 3 after all.

Captain Marvel (July 6th, 2018)

And she'll be the Carol Danvers incarnation.

Inhumans (November 2nd, 2018)

Its floated around pretty persistently, and they finally fessed up.

Avengers: Infinty War, Part 2
(May 3rd, 2019)

...and, that fills all the mystery slots.
Sadly, no Black Widow or Punisher.
Maybe in phase four.

Slashers update (part 2)

'Nother Soska Sisters like last time.

ABCs Of Death 2 (2014)

An anthology film cut up into twenty six 5 minutes chunks by different directors.

Where it's anthology, I didn't need to see part 1, (unlike See No Evil) and I only gave a shit about the Soska's one.

They did "T is for torture porn".

Meh, all right, for 5 minutes.
A model is manhandled by sexist assholes, and then tentacles shoot out of her snoosh, and rape everybody.

In the post credits sequence, Lawrence Harvey from "Human Centipede 2", is jacking off to the "T", section, and, unsatisfied, says "how am I meant to wank to this?".

So, that's that one down.
Hopefully, they'll have more room to breathe in "XX".

Batman alternate cinematic universe news.

Joel Schumaker will return to his cinematic Bat-verse (see here and here) in comics.
He's going to do dark remakes of "Forever", "& Robin", and then finally show what we missed with the un-filmed "Batman Triumphant", which was going to have Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, and Jack Nicholson Joker returning in fear gas hallucinations.

These three stories will be blended as one in a 12 issue series.
The artist will be Dustin Nguyen.

Poor guy wants redemption. Hope he gets it.
I've long since forgiven him, other nerds haven't been as kind.
I say, save the really good hate for politicians.

There Is No Jesse updates.

Ugh, it's been SUCH a thin trickle out of this one.

Here's everything from the past three fuggin' years.

See here for the original post.

Now, updates.
  • It has a director.
  • There are teasers here and here.
  • There was an Indiegogo that failed for securing music rights from Nightmare 2.
  • The artwork above is some fanart or something from his site, probably not the final poster, but I had to put something.
  • There's supposed to be a paper book on the making of Nightmare 2 and one on "Come Back To The Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean", written by him, but no word on those either.
  • Also, no word on the paper version of "Jesse's Lost Journals". There's a link on his site that says it's to buy, but no button to push to buy it.

That's it, no other word.
Progress, production phase, if they've started interviewing people, nothing.
He's tenacious, I'll give him that.
He hasn't given up on the thing.
Still, lotta oddness and instability floating around...

And still holding at 12.
And books...

Documentaries I want (Number 12)

Number 11.

Agh, they're popping out of the friggin' woodwork!

Why Horror? (2014)

A documentary covering the whole horror genre, from cave paintings, to woodcuttings, to novels, to movies, to shows, to video games.

Featuring interviews with George RomeroJohn Carpenter, Don Coscarelli, Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, From Beyond, Castle Freak), and many more.

Hey, worth it right there for interviews with those folks.

Geez, they're really getting out ahead of me...
And books...

Slashers update.

I guess this updates both 80's slashers, and Masters Of Horror.

I left off on 80's slashers saying...

I'm sure some cool new retro-80's franchise will come along.
But, for now, we're in a holding pattern.

The following two flicks try to accomplish that, but, well.....

See No Evil (2006)

From WWE pictures, and starring Kane.
It's Jason fused with Francis Dollarhyde with an eyeball plucking modus operandi.

I struggled through it to get to the second one, which is the one I really wanted to see.

And by struggled, I mean I really kept popping up the time counter, and checking the clock.
It had a DMV/waiting room feel to it.

SyFy level schlock.

See No Evil 2 (2014)

I wanted to see this one, because it's directed by The Soska Sisters.

Also, it stars Danielle Harris ("Halloween 5", "Hatchet II", and "Hatchet III"), and Katherne Isabelle ("Ginger Snaps", "Freddy vs. Jason", "American Mary", and "Hannibal Season 2").

Every minute they're on the screen, you're happy, and every minute they're gone, you miss them.

The Soskas do their best, and add their kinky little touches, but...ehhh.
It's a studio picture.

Hopefully, "Vendetta", will be another "American Mary", or better.

Worth watching if you're an insane fan of the starlets, but not worth collecting.
Not even if you're a Soska Sisters completist.
Wait for "Vendetta".

As for the over arching premise of this post, the wait for the next Freddy/Jason continues.
The holding pattern isn't broken yet.

The Big Romero Dead Series Review (addendum- part 2).

Part 1.

So, I left off last time with....

Barring an absolute fucking miracle, that's going to have to be it.

Get ready to believe in miracles....

Nope, George is still retired, but his son is taking up the mantle, and trying to Indiegogo a prequel to "Night Of The Living Dead".

Here's his site.

That's it, the press release yadda-yadda on the site says the rest.
Discuss amongst yourselves.

DC Cinematic Universe updates. (part 2)

After acting like it was a "we'll have to kill you", level secret, DC up and exposed their whole slate, so here goes.

Suicide Squad plugs into the August 5th 2016 slot.
But, I care a lot less, because Harley isn't in it.

Wonder Woman is the June 23rd 2017 movie.
So, there was no gap there after all.

Justice League comes AFTER Wonder Woman in November 12th of 2017.
Also, they're calling it "Justice League Part 1".

Scratch the team-up with Green Lantern, the Flash is going solo March 23rd 2018.
Ezra Miller will be playing him.
Never heard of the dude.

Aquaman slips into the July 27th 2018 slot.

Shazam is getting bumped down to the April 5th 2019 slot.

Justice League Part 2 will be in the June 14th 2019 slot.

Cyborg solo movie slots into the April 3rd 2020 slot.

And, finally, a Green Lantern reboot fits into the June 19th 2020 slot.

So, there, all 9 mystery flicks accounted for,

Also, the Man Of Steel sequel and solo Batman flick aren't dead, they just haven't decided where to stick 'em in, but they say it's definitely before 2020.

Marvel Cinematic Universe news.

File this under more "I'll believe it when I see it".

So, last night before I went to sleep, the report was...

Robert Downey Junior isn't going to do Iron Man 4, BUT, he'll be in Captain America 3, which will be Civil War.

Now, this morning, comes news that the studio/directors are bouncing between the titles "Civil War", and "Fallen Son".

Also, the Russo brothers (directors of Winter Soldier, and soon Cap3) are being primed to take over for Joss Whedon for Avengers 3 and 4, and Thanos won't show up finally until 4.

Also, its been going around for awhile that the Avengers lineup will be completely reshuffled after Avengers 2, and replaced by Avengers 3.

The roster always rotated in the comics, so it makes sense, but I'll miss the classic all-stars.
As long as the torch gets passed smoothly, I won't mind too much.

Hmm, Spidey was a big element in the Civil War comics, maybe this is (allegedly) why Marvel is trying to snag him for their future plans?

Terminator franchise update.

All old news, but doesn't hurt to scrapbook it.

Obligatory old posts.
Now, new business.
  • T5 is called "Terminator Genisys".
  • No explanation thus far for the hip misspelling.
  • Arnie is another T-800, but apparently, the meat layer can age.
  • There'll be time travel hi-jinks in the time periods of T1 & T2 like in "Back To The Future II", going back to the first movie.
  • They shot it all back in August. Now, post-production until 2015.
  • Events of this film and its two sequels create a new timeline like JJ Abrams Trek.
  • There's also (allegedly) going be be a new Terminator TV series that will weave in and out of events of this new trilogy.

Man, they've fucked up the timeline.
I gotta work this out with an infographic....

(2 hours of research and grunt work later...)

Ooof, there!
