So, Neil Gaiman...(Part 2)

A.K.A. dismantling Sandman part 1.

So, yeah, I haven't been logging it anymore, but I've kept up putting printouts on my wall to have something to look at and focus my mind on when I'm bored.

Well, as you can likely guess, I had the poster for the fucking Sandman show up.
Yeah.
Well, at least it was only that, and not the covers off all the books.
Anyhoo...

Meedyah Morsels #36.

While I'm folding things in, let's chuck in the "Shit On My Walls", series.
There's a big bunch of movie review/commentary in those, so those are media updates.

  • Part 1 (Version 1 begins)
  • Part 2 (Version 1 takes final shape)
  • Part 3 (Fine tuning to version 1.5, JS wall starts to form)
  • Part 4 (Harry 25th anniversary)
  • Parts 5-8 deleted.
  • Part 9 (Fine tuning to version 2)
  • Part 10 (Documentary wall addition)
  • Part 11 (Fine tuning to version 2.5)
  • Part 12 (Fine tuning to version 2.6)
  • Part 13 (Age Of Ultron)
  • Parts 14-15 deleted.
  • Part 16 (Documentary wall fine tuning)
  • Parts 17-18 deleted.
  • Part 19 (Documentary wall starts to become Ghostbusters wall)
  • Part 20 (Ghostbusters wall transformation complete)
  • Part 21 (Big upgrade to version 3)
I've updated these like crazy, but haven't kept up on it here for 2 years!
Um...Ghostbusters wall has changed a couple times.
The "big grid", wall has been shuffled all around.
Marvel movies have almost completely taken over.
(Updated up to Black Panther and Infinity War)
There's seasons 1-2 of Stranger things in there though.
There's a grid of the casts of all 6 Star Trek shows.
The Jade-Shade wall is taken down, and the posts are deleted.
Eh...yeah, that's about it.
Anyhoo, I'm not gonna keep up on these.
They served their purpose.
But, I'll have them here as reruns.

The shit on my walls (Part 21).

Part 20.

Big upgrade to the big grid....
Actually did this a month ago, but stuff kept getting in the way of posting this.

Ash Vs Evil Dead season 2.

Best Evil Dead anything since Evil Dead 2.
Best poster of the series so far.

Replaces Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
FINALLY!

The Mist.

I like to play "six degrees", with these when I'm bored, and this flick gets me all sorts of connections.
Frank Darabont directed it, and went on to produce "The Walking Dead".
Melissa McBride went on to play Carol in "The Walking Dead".
Jeffrey DeMunn went on the play Dale in "The Walking Dead".
Laurie Holden went on to play Andrea in "The Walking Dead".
Thomas Jane played The Punisher in the 2004 Punisher flick, and all of the TWD alums connect this to TWD, and John Bernthal from TWD played (and still plays) Punisher in the Marvel-Netflix-verse.
Lotta ways to go with that.

Replaces Manhunter.

The DC-CW-TV-verse.

Like "The Mist", lotta actor connections I can get to and from this.

For example, Flash's adoptive dad was in "Rent", with Rosario Dawson who's the Nick Fury of the Marvel-Netflix-verse.

Replaces Creepshow.
Again, FIIIINALLY!

Stranger Things.

Because, c'mon, it's Stranger Things.

Replaces "God Bless America".

Next row down....

Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2.

Comes out in a  couple weeks.
Come on, we all know it's going to be good.
Even if by a one in a billion shot it sucked, the poster is still pretty.

Bumps down Guardians 1, which bumps down Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which bumps down Super, which bumps down Toxic Avenger, which replaces Kickass 2.

Logan.

Because, c'mon, it's Logan.

Replaces "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".

Next row down....

Marvel-Netflix-verse.

See DC-CW-TV-verse.

Replaces American Mary.

Unbreakable.

Replaces Batman vs Hulk.

Split.

Because....

*Spoilers*
(Highlight to see)
It's a secret sequel to Unbreakable.
*Spoilers*

Replaces Hulk painted magazine cover.

And finally...

Updated mini version of the grid for my boombox corner.

And, done!

The shit on my walls (Part 20).

Part 19.

And it's a true sequel to 19 because....

Blam!

I already had Ghostbusters 1 &2, I bumped them back up to where they were, and threw out the horror documentary mosaics. I took down the Weathervane menu* and replaced it with Ghostbusters The Video Game, replaced Ghostbusters (2016) with the one that says "Answer The Call", and surrounded it with Ghostbusters Get Real**, and Ghostbusters 101***.
So, that's roughly chronologically****.

  • *They're out of business except for in Kittery@ and New Hampshire. :-(
  • ** Which I happily got the graphic novel to yesterday. :-D
  • *** Which I'm currently awaiting with as much excitement as Answer The Call.
  • **** So, GB1 happens in 1984 in real time, GB2 happens in 1989 in real time, GBTVG happens in a  fictional 1991, and all the comics happen in a fictional 1993-1994. GBATC happens in 2016 in real time, but because of the timewarp crossover with GB101, it technically comes before. GBGR happens before GB101, and came out in 2015 before GBATC came out in real time, so I put it before that. SO, if we accept that these adventures are retroactively going back to the 90's, while I was languishing in depression and boredom in those times, there were lost Ghostbusters sequels I couldn't see because of the Temporal Prime Directive. Heh, I kinda like that. Also, by the time Extreme Ghostbusters came out in 1997 in real time#, all this stuff had happened.
  • @Which may as well be New Hampshire. :-(
  • #Shit, I have to remember, September 1st is the 20th anniversary!!

The shit on my walls (Part 19).

Part 18.

Yeah, I couldn't resist...

Ghostbusters trilogy.

This took a little reshuffling.

Already had GB1, printed GB2 and GB16.

Bumped them down, and replaced the mosaic of superhero/sci-fi documentaries, the mosaic of "Never Sleep Again", and its spinoffs, and the mosaic of VHS documentaries.

Bumped the "Never Sleep Again", mosaic up to where GB1 used to be, and the VHS mosaic up next to it, which replaces the Hoggies menu.

Threw out Hoggies, and superhero documentary mosaic.

Doesn't matter what I physically toss out, I still keep the files.
:-)

Anyhoo, ahhh, that's better. :-D

The shit on my walls (Part 16).

Part 15.

Another revision...

Mosaic of "The Death Of 'Superman Lives' What Happened?", "Doomed!", "Jodorowsy's Dune", and "Invaluable".

Replaces this one from here.

Got sick of looking at those.
I went the full cycle with those.
They were child trauma movie memories, then I found them, and saw the movies, and antidoted it, then I put them on the wall as an empowerment thing, then I got so used to them it became boring, and took all the power away from them.

So, they've suited their purpose, and now to replace them with things I actually enjoy.

The shit on my walls (Part 13).

Part 12.

Okay, NOW it's perfect.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

The official poster finally came out today.

I was going to let it be a picture-less link in the all-purpose superhero thread, but then I was like "fuck it, that's wall-worthy!".

So, up it went.

And here we are.

Retro linking to En-Mike-lopedia 4.

The shit on my walls (Part 12).

Part 11.

The last update felt...aaalmost perfect, but it needed something else, and something else had to go...
So, here's more fine tuning.

American Mary (2013)

See here, here, and here.

Replaces "Sin City", with Gail.
I mean, I love Rosario Dawson, but staring at those garish Nazi colors knowing Frank Miller's leanings started grating at my eyes.

Then, I finally caved in, and binge watched all of Hannibal season 2, and Katharine Isabelle popped up as Margot Verger, and the lightbulb went up over my head.

She's in "Freddy vs Jason", the death of her character actually instigates the fight, making her part of horror history for that alone, and the Hannibal show loops back to "Manhunter", it's kismet.

Also, she's a cutie.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

See here, here, here, and here.

Replaces "Dark Knight Returns".

"The Dark Knight", is the better movie, but "Rises", has the better poster.

And connections wise, Gary Oldman was in "Hannibal", which tracks back to "Manhunter".

And, of course...

Another grid update.

See just last time for the last one.

Ahhh, better.

Retro linking this back to En-Mike-lopedia 4.

The shit on my walls (Part 11).

Part 10.

Fine tuning the big grid again...

Manhunter (1986)

See here, here, and here.

Replaces Goonies.

Getting my Hannibal season 2 DVDs has given me Hannibal fever, and I gotta have something Hannibal up there.

I love "Manhunter", and it started it all (in cinema), so, yhep, had to be that one.

Behind The Mask:
The Rise Of Leslie Vernon (2006)

See here, and here.

Replaces "Some Guy Who Kills People".

Two reasons.

One, got sick of looking at "Some Guy...".

Two, when I'm bored, or idea-stuck, I play a connections, game with the posters, and to get "Some Guy...", to go with anything, I have to link the fat guy from "Leslie Vernon", who's in "Some Guy...", to Robert Englund who's also in "Leslie Vernon".

Finally, I'm like "wait, 'Some Guy...', is basically a stand-in for 'Leslie Vernon', and I like 'Leslie', better, so why isn't 'Leslie', up there?
So, I finally got off my lazy ass, and did it.

There, better.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014)

See here, here, and here.

Takes over "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"'s slot, bumps "Girl", over a notch , which replaces "George Carlin: Jammin' In New York".

And, Brian Cox, who played the original Hannibal in "Manhunter", played Stryker in "X2", and he's shown in a flashback when Wolverine sees young Stryker in "Future Past".

And, Ellen Page is in "Future Past", and "Super", and "Hard Candy".

And, "Future Past", is a sequel to "First Class", which has Kevin Bacon, who was in "Super", and "Friday The 13th", which is the first prequel to "Freddy vs. Jason".

Aaand, "Future Past", has Quicksilver, who's also going to be in "Avengers: Age Of Ultron", which is the sequel to "The Avengers".

AAAAND, "Super", is directed by James Gun, who also did "Guardians Of the Galaxy".

Finally, Quicksilver in "Future Past", and Quicksilver in "Age Of Ultron", where both in "Kick-Ass".

So...yeah, the grid flows better now.

Lastly...

Upgrade of grid #1.

See here for the original, and here and here for the other upgrades.

That's it until next time.
Retro adding this, and part 10 to En-Mike-lopedia 4.

The End.

Part 9.

Slight revision...

Mosaic of "Rewind This!", "Adjust Your Tracking", "Leviathan", and "Electric Boogaloo".
Replaces this one from here.
There, that looks better, and feels right.

The shit on my walls (Part 9).

Part 8.

Hokey-dokey, big overhaul this time.
Didn't really even see it coming, just got staring at the stuff, and gut-felt that some changes had to happen, and once they were made, it felt right.
It all came to me like, one or two things a time, across the last couple days.

As always, starting with the big grid...

Guardians.
Fuck yeah!
See here, and here.

Replaces Transformers The Movie.
And, makes a cleaner row with Toxic Avenger, Super, and Avengers.
You've got the whole Lloyd Kaufman/James Gunn/Stan Lee thing all going on there now.
Now, the Awesome Mix songs pop in my head every time I look at it. :-)

Next wall...

The forbidden comics!
Goddamned fucking right.
From Hell's heart, I stab at thee.

See here, here, and here.

Bookends the wall on the other end from Raunchy Hulk.
Appropriate.

Replaces the Star Wars book covers thingy.
Episode 7 is slaughtering the novel canon, so it depressed me to look at.
Also, it's above the Harry 25th anniversary.

Next wall, above the stereo...

Upgrade of grid #1...

...and grid #2.

See here, for the previous upgrade, and here for the original versions.

I've actually been upgrading these pretty steadily, but I didn't want to post an update until they'd transformed more noticeably.
#2 has the most.
That wall is the most changeable.
Everything from Burgertime to Swamp Thing, and Pacman/Space-Invaders to Ambush Bug, that can go.
Those two rows as a corner chunk can become Jade-Shade stuff.
(Hint, hint, Paladin/Hyla ;-))

And finally, last wall, where my door is....

A mosaic of lost memory movies.
See here, here, here, and here.

A mosaic of interconnected favorite horror docs.
See here, here, here, and here.

A mosaic of film related documentaries.
See here, here, here, and here.

Underneath Ghostbusters.
Replaces the Heavy Metal covers mosaics.
Got plain sick of looking at those.
I realized, they didn't mean anything to me.
These do.

I unreservedly love the documentaries.
The lost films, well, of the crap I dug up for that series, those are ones that were nagging memories, hard quests, and somewhat enjoyable as films.
Others were harder quests, more satisfying finds, but...the films stunk.
Or, the quality films were easier to find.
Or, it was a great find, great flick, a rarity, but...it just didn't mean as much to me personally.
These had it all.

Like, "Demon Murder Case", could have gone instead of "Burnt Offerings", because it had a deeper meaning to me....but the film is just awful.
Or, "Twice Upon A time", could have gone instead of "Get Crazy", but, I didn't have a connection to it.
Even though I'd only seen both for brief instants, "Get Crazy", represents a time in my life more, whereas "Once..", is its own little esoteric world.
Eh, harder to explain than I thought...

Anyhoo, that's those.

Much better.
Muuuch better.

The shit on my walls (Part 4).

One minor little thing.
Added it yesterday, in fact.

This!
See here.

Added under the Star Wars mosaic.
Right next to my bookshelves.

There, that feels right.

Until next time...

The shit on my walls (Part 3).

Well, I knew from the beginning, this would be a work in progress.
So, here are the upgrades.

Okay, starting with the big grid...

Kick-ass.
See here.

Replaced the 7th Guest with this.
Decided I needed more superheroes, less horror.
Hard to describe, but, the "energy flow", of the thing wasn't matching my head space anymore, so the horror ones were like..."speedbumps", when I looked at it.

So, there, that's that.
Then...

Kick-Ass 2.
See here, and here.

Replaces American Psycho.
I like that version of the poster better. You can see the characters more.
And now Kick-Ass to Dragon Tatoo make a nice clean row of heroes.

Then, bump down a row....

Heroes.
See, here, here, and here.

Heh, Super, and Heroes, Superheroes!

Then, Hard Candy, then...

Watchmen.
See here, here, here, and here.

Replaces Vice City.
Not only a good superhero flick, but, Nite Owl is the pedo in Hard Candy, so there's a connection there.

Then...

Sin City.
See here, and here.

Replaces MAD.
And I went with the Rosario Dawson poster, cuz...well, dammit, she gives me a boner.

And, that's the grid.

Next wall...

Comedy idols part 3.
Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford, Ron White, and Penn Jillette.

Under Louis C.K., Kristen Schaal, Sarah Silverman, and Lewis Black, next to George Carlin: Back in Town, above Bill Hicks, and replacing "teach the controversy".

Just whipped this one up in time for this post, in fact.
Then, jump across the window, and...

Jade Shade cover #1.
See here.

Under Jade Shade mask mark 2, next to "In the finich", replaces original Paladin Jade Shade.

Then...

Jade Shade cover #2.
See here.

Next to cover #1, replaces Jade Shade mask mark 1.

Then, next wall, above the stereo....

Upgrade of grid #1.

And...

Upgrade of grid #2.

Shit, I shoulda re-upgraded that by finding a place to squeeze the new comedians in.
Ah, well...

And, done for now...

The shit on my walls (Part 2).

Part 1.

(From there)
And that's that.
Fun little journey.
I plan on a sequel when I get another ink cartridge.
Got the files all ready, and rarin' to go.

Well, here we are.
So, I got fresh printer ink, and filled in all the gaps with new stuff quite awhile ago.
Not long after that post, actually.

But...well, you'll see what held this post up.

Let's start with the big grid on the far wall...

Top row, just before "Goonies".

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
See here, here, here, and here.

Then, "Goonies", then....

Some Guy Who Kills People.
See here.

So, there, I told the whole story about how that one should have gone with my original reviews of "Kick-Ass", "Super", and "Defendor".

And, how I had amnesia level forgetfulness about the whole thing, and had even had the graphic loaded and ready until the last minute.

Well, there's the graphic.
I can see why the DVD art goes another way, and showcases the actors, but, I like that one a lot better.
Anyhoo, both that art, and the flick, were worthy for the wall.

Then, "Freddy vs. Jason", then "The Dark Knight Returns", then....

Tom Jane Punisher.
See here, here, and here.

Then, "Creepshow", then....

God Bless America.
See here, here, and here.

Okay, that completes a row, next row down, "7th Guest", then.....

American Psycho.
See here, and here.

Then, "Toxic Avenger", then....

Super.
Natch.
See here, here, here, and here.
Yeah, I really like this one. :-P

Then...

The Avengers.
Natch.
See here, and here.

Then "Transformers The Movie", then....

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

See here.

Then, "George Carlin: Jammin' In New York", then, that completes another row, then, next row down, and "Megadeth", then.....

Hard Candy.
Natch.
See here.
This, and "Super", are essentially "The Ellen Page vigilante duology".
Or, just "Boltie 1 & 2", as I call 'em.

Then, "Vice City", then "MAD", then....

Batman vs. Hulk.
Natch.
See here, and here.

Then Lou Ferrigno Hulk issue cover, and that completes the grid.

Then, ROM, and then the next wall.

So then, we come back to the wall in front of me, and "George Carlin: Back In Town", then, just above that now, I've got...

Some more comedy heroes.
Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, Kathy Griffin, and Dave Attell.
They were too numerous to do individually, so I made grids.

Then, right next to this one, and above the "teach the controversy", thing, which is above Bill Hicks...

Louis C.K., Kristen Schaal, Sarah Silverman, and Lewis Black.

All together, they're the only standup comedians still doing standup worth a damn today.
Okay, Patton Oswalt is good, but there was no more room.
Oh, shit, Ron White coulda gone in too.
Katt Williams showed promise, until he went insane.
Anyway, those, and the rest are riff-raff.

Then, next to that whole macro-grid of comedians, is "Ranchy Hulk", "Freddy Mail", Movies Unlimited cover, then, the window right in front of me (see fall, winter, spring), then....

When Worlds Collide!! (in color!)

See here, and here.

THEN....*drumroll*

THIS!!
See here.

Yep, that was the holdup.

I couldn't do this post until I premiered the mask, and I couldn't premiere that until I did chapter 8, and chapter 8 is stuck good and tight in my head, and I finally said "fuck it", and made the chunk with the mask it's own chapter, and premiered it as chapter 7.5, and here we are.

Then, right next to that, is...

A merged image of the prototypes.

Then, right under that...

Mask Mark 1.
See here.

Then, next to that, and underneath the big Mark 2 mask...

Paladin's Jade-Shade.
See here.

Then, next to that, and under "When Worlds Collide!!", is "In The Finich".

Then, next to the Mark 2 mask prototypes is Harry & Spruce, then, under them, and next to the Mark 1 mask prototypes, is Omneron & Horseradish, then, on the other side of Harry & Spruce is....

Zoria & Captain Redundant.
See here.

Then, right under them, and next to Omneron & Horseradish is...

Moomin & Harry's Ex.
See here again.

And, that completes the Zone Dweebies.

Then, a 2 inch gap I couldn't close, and then, lined up with Zoria/Redundant....

Burgertime!!

This was my first video game I ever owned.
Long before I even got the Atari 400, I had the portable LCD game of this.
Happy times, happy times...

Got this on Dingoo now.
Full circle.

Next to this, is Captain Beeble, under Beeble is the cats sitting in the window, next to kitties, and under Burgertime, is....

The true story of Pac-Man, and what a Space Invader really looks like in one merged image.
Gorgeous.

Then, on the other side of Captain Beeble is...

Swamp Thing issue #21.
See here.

Then, under this, and next to the cats, is...

Ambush Bug issue 3.
See here for Ambush Bug.

Why 3?
Okay, so, it's like this, it's summer of 1985, I'm freshly 10, me and my folks are over my mother's friend's house, and her abusive ex-husband is late bringing the kids home from weekly visitation, and we stay there to be with her, and the moronic asshole finally drags his ass in at 10 at night, and then my mother's friend has a total meltdown, and smashes his truck into a soda can with a baseball bat, and releases all that pent up abuse energy.

Her terminally ill mother was on the couch going "I wish I could be out there helping her!".

Me, I sat in the rocking chair, and calmly kept reading Ambush Bug.
And, this was the issue.
I think of that every time I look up at the wall now.
Ah, good times, good times...

Okay, right next to Swamp Thing 21, and above the Lows menu, is...

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
See here, and here.

Then, the window, then, the Star Wars montage, then, next wall, and my bookshelves, my bed, then my stereo, and then, above the stereo...

A miniature version of the big grid on the far wall!
Ayep, that's the whole thing.

Now, when I'm sitting in my stereo corner, I can see it there too, and get ideas.

Then, under that one...

A miniature version of the grid between my two windows.
Under that is the comedian grid before the window, and the FvsJvsA and menus grid, and SW, and Movies Unlimited to fill that last little bit in.

Then, next to that, is the Star Wars rock band, and then, above that, and next to the first grid, is....

Star TREK rock band!

Then, next wall, and the grid with Ghostbusters, Heavy Metal covers, menus, and oh yeah, Westbrook Hoggy's went out of business.
So...that's a piece of nostalgia now. :-(

Then, my door, my other bookshelves, Suicide Girls nudies, my closet, and back to the grid.

Oh, and one more thing.

Taped to my file cabinet, and this was there all along, but I forgot it last time...

Nicely's!
See here, here, and here.
*Sigh* yep, my file cabinets, and my blog memories are all that's left of 'er.

And, that's that.
It goes all the way around now, pretty much.
Couple spots I could probably add to, but, I think I'm good.
