Masters Of Horror! (Dan O'Bannon)

So far, all the ones I've showcased are all still drawing breath.
Dan is no longer with us. :-(

So, here's his filmic legacy.
It's fucking incredible, and will outlive us all.

Dark Star (1974)

See here, and here.

Wrote, and co-starred.
(As Sgt. Pinback).

Star Wars (1977)

See here.

Special computer effects.

Alien (1979)

See here, and here.

Writer.
Yep, the xenomorphs came out of his typing fingers.

Dead & Buried (1981)

Allegedly a writer, but they just tricked him into using his name to sell it.
The real writer did "King Kong Lives".
So, there you go.
Just warning ya off it so you don't get tricked.
Like I almost did.

Heavy Metal (1981)

See here.

Wrote "soft landing", and "B-17".
The latter being a zombie story, which would be a signal of things to come. ;-)

Blue Thunder (1983)

Writer.

Cool flick, Roy Scheider as the good guy, Malcolm McDowell as the bad guy, an awesome super-copter, creepy terrorist plot by a covert organization.
Really cool flick.
Friend of mine had the toy of the copter.
Haven't seen the movie in ages, need to see it again soon.
Odd that cable doesn't play it.

Blue Thunder (TV) (1984)

See here.

Wrote a couple episodes.

Lifeforce (1985)

See here.

Writer.

Return Of The Living Dead (1985)

See here.

Written and directed.

His crowning masterpiece, IMHO.

Invaders From Mars (1986)

See here.

Writer.
Another Tobe Hooper & Dan O'Bannon teamup.

Total Recall (1990)

See here.

Writer.

Screamers (1995)

Writer.

High-falutin' critics despise it, but Joe Bob Briggs loves it, so that's all I need to hear.

More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead (2011)

See here.

Feature's Dan O'Bannon's final interview. :-(

Sad that it's final, happy that we have it.

And, he directed some schlock in his waning years, but like Tobe Hooper, it's depressing to include that stuff, so, fuck it.

Okay, that wasn't quite a quickie, lotta entries there, but I'd done most of them, so the post was speedy.

Next actual quickie, Don Coscarelli.
