Or, "Flicks I've watched part 32". (31 being "Bingewatch 1", here)
And/or "Bigass review #4". (Ditto)
Shows.
True Detective (2014)
Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey (Mahingahey!!!), big buckets of morbid grittiness, what's not to like?
Also, the theme song is my newest fucking jam.
If you at all like the Hannibal films and/or series, this is definitely one to check out.
Very similar in tone.
Very short, too, only 8 episodes.
Season 2 is going to be a whole new locale, with a whole new cast, so, this season is a self-contained arc.
More of a long movie than a show.
The Bridge (2014)
Should I be worried that Sonya Cross is supposed to have Asperger's, and I related to her more than the other corrupt/bumbling fuckups and dipshits on this series?
Anyway, good show.
And another short one.
This batch of shows was like a Chinese combo platter.
Fargo (2014)
A sorta-sequel to the film of the same name.
It continues events, but its all new characters.
The one defining bit of connective tissue, is the missing money from the flick.
Anyway, pretty good, lots of callback moments to the film, some of which are cute, some of which are eye-rollers.
Overall, the movie is better.
If Billy Bob Thornton hadn't been in it, matters would be worse.
His character is the Fonzie of this thing.
Dunno who they're gonna get for season 2.
Also, it's another short snack of a season.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Season 1 (2013-2014)
See here first.
All right, I'm eating the family sized bucket of Kentucky Fried Crow.
My apologies.
The show is good.
I'll be adding the Blu-ray to my Marvel heroes collection after all.
It just took awhile to build the world up, and get going.
After "The Wire", I've gained new perspective for how slow a show can be, and I'll never whine about pace again.
Also, the whole thing from start to finish is a loooot better when you've seen "Iron Man 3", "Thor 2", and "Winter Soldier", to get all the little clues and connections.
Yep, retroactively recommended.
A full 22 episode season though.
Not a quickie.
Movies.
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
See here, and here.
As I said on Facebook, these are pretty dumb, but they're like potato chips, I just keep going back.
So, I had to be all caught up on 'em.
Scratch what I said about "no end in sight", the next one is tentatively titled "RE: The Final Chapter", and the cliff-hang on "Retribution", looks pretty damned final.
Yeah,...I'll watch it.
I got this far.
In The Electric Mist (2009)
An hour and forty minutes of Tommy Lee Jones being a grizzled old badass.
Enjoy!
The Skeleton Key (2005)
Ugh.
That "No! Don't go in there, you stupid bitch!", kind of horror I'm fed up with.
The ending is a Shyamalan style twist.
Meh.
Between this, "In The Electric Mist", and "True Detective", fuck, you can keep Louisiana.
I ain't the least bit interested.
I'll watch it from afar in films.
Oh, yeah, weirdly, Peter Sarsgaard is in both of these too.
Aaand, that's it.
Next binge-watch, I'm going to go all through "The Shield", and give NuBSG another chance.
Those are huge, and I'm burnt out, and have other things to do, so I'm gonna save those for winter.
Until next time!

"The Skeleton Key" - I saw this years ago with a friend. It was his choice, not mine. Screenplay was by the goofus responsible for the Transformers movies and (possibly worse) "Scream 3." Yeaacchh. TSK's probably better than any of that crap though!!!
How many RE movies are they going to do? Ten? Are there more movies than games now? I've heard the suspension of disbelief one must have regarding the Umbrella Co. in the movies is galactic in scope.
I'll get to "True Detective," right now I've put "The X-Files" on hold to...rewatch "Breaking Bad" in its entirety, actually. Yeah, eating that up a second time!
