Comic-Con recap!!

Star Wars.

Clone Wars is coming back to tie up all the loose plot threads they didn't get to finish.

Trailer.

DC

DC practically had the place to themselves.

Shazam trailer.

Aquaman trailer.

DC/CW sizzle reel.

Supergirl season 4.

Arrow season 7.

Black Lightning season 1 recap.

Flash season 5.

Legends Of Tomorrow season 4.

Marvel

Marvel fired James Gunn over some politically motivated bullshit engineered by the guy who invented "pizzagate".
Fuck this country.

Marvel technically officially didn't show, but Sony did a loophole around them.
They revealed "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse", is not only going to have classic Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Spider-Gwen, but Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, and.....SPIDER-HAM!!

Yep, Marvel thought of Spider-Pig decades before Homer Simpson did.
He started as a parody, but in the books, he's dimensionally crossed over with regular Spider-Man, so he's real.

Well, now he's coming to a movie.
Now we just need DC to put Ambush Bug into a movie, and all the weird obscure comedy characters will be mainstream culture.

Ghostbusters

Fuckin' nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No 4th movie, no new comics after "Crossing Over", fucking nothing!!!!

Well, there was some more talk of the phone game, but I don't care.
*Sulks*

All the rest

Doctor Who season 11 trailer. (Girl Doctor!!)

Star Trek Discovery season 2 trailer (Captain Pike!)

Glass trailer. (Unbreakable 3!!)

Disenchantment trailer. (Third Matt Groening series!!)

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters trailer. (Godzilla vs Eleven!!)

Alita Battle Angel trailer (just dropped this minute)

And John Schnepp fucking died. :(

Aaaand, that's it.

Happy 51st anniversary Star Trek!

• 45th
• 46th
• 47th
• 48th (nothing)
• 49th (nothing)
• 50th

So, where were we last time?

Oh yeah, I updated with the trailer and the poster, and the shake-up behind the scenes.

Okay, so here's our cast.

Starting with the redhead chick, that's Sylvia Tilly, next to her is Captain Gabriel Lorca (Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter), next to him is Paul Stamets, next to him is Ash Tyler, next to him is Commander Michael Burnham (she's the star), next to her is Saru, next to him is Captain Philippa Georgiou (played by Michelle Yeoh).
And, that's obviously the transporter they're standing in.

The setting is original timeline, 10 years before Kirk, so between "The Cage", and "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Here's a diagram of uniform colors and rank that a fan broke down (click to enlarge).
So, same gist as classic Trek, but copper represents red, silver = blue, and gold = yellow.
All those metallic pieces are 3-D printed, especially the fish scales, cuz there's no other way to make them.

And the show premieres in 17 days.
Next year, I'll review the season, and we'll see where we are with season 2.

Oh, yeah, Star Trek update stuff.

Last time-
50th anniversary (which was sad and "blah")

Okay, so updating from there....

...we've got a poster.

We've got a trailer.

And from that, we've got a peek at the uniforms.

Next to the alien dude is Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Michael Burnham, who while being a second in command is actually the lead character.

Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer, Kirk-2, Burnham.
There's the updated list of series leads.

Gotta say, I miss the tradition of the TV Guide cover and article that introduces the crew for each new show, but they stopped printing paper magazines.
And I stopped using their website when I upgraded to digital cable.
Another thing the internet has killed.
Ah, well, I'll just make my own digital scrapbook like I did for "Ghostbusters: Answer The Call".

I like the new transporter and warp effects.
I've kind of learned to let go of the idea of a prequel having to have rigid conformity to the look of the old show.
I just imagine that the clunky old consoles of the old show are advanced 3-D screens with a retro holographic skin.

When last I posted here on the subject, Bryan Fuller was still showrunner, and he's since left to do "American Gods", and it's fucking incredible, so he made the right call there.

The release date for "Discovery", still can't make a fucking landing.
Even the poster just says "this fall".

Lotta rumors of behind the scenes drama, mostly to do with network heads being dickheads in the exact same way they were to the original Trek in the 60's.

We'll see how it all irons out.
I still think putting it on a proprietary internet service instead of the network is a stupid mistake.

I get that they want it to flagship this thing the way Voyager did for UPN, but how did UPN work out, fellas?
Hmm?
Yeah.

So, that's that.
I'll just toss this info into the 51st anniversary when we get there.
Maybe the show will have released by then.
I doubt it.

Superheroes Six.

I'm late on this stuff.
Because of the stuff mentioned at the beginning of the second Dr. Strange review.

And, as I mentioned in the "Brew Review", section of Halloween, I'm boiling Halloween and Christmas down to one big labor saving post.
I was gonna do it anyway, but this crappy year pushes the need all the more.
I could just cancel, but I need to keep my mind busy.

Anyhoo, drawing off "All-purpose superhero/sci-fi update thread part 2.5".....
