Crapload of Marvel/DC updates.

Bunch of "Guardians Of The Galaxy", stuff....

Poster.

Trailer.

Character profiles.

Peter Quill.
Gamora.
Drax.
Groot.
Rocket.

Lessee, what else?

Oh, yeah, there's going to be a Black Widow solo movie, and her character is being expanded in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", and "Avengers: Age Of Ultron", to build to that.

But, like I said last time, all the slots for phase 3 seem to be locked down, so where are they squeezing this in?

Oh, and adding to that confusion, the Dr. Strange flick is still on, and rolling ahead, and they've got a short list of directors and writers for that.

Ant-Man has Michael Douglas casted as Hank Pym, and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang.
Word is, there will indeed be a Wasp, but they haven't finalized casting for her.

Paul Bettany (the voice of Jarvis) has been cast as The Vision.

And, finally,The Fantastic Four reboot is casted, to much fanboy whining.

Oh, right, and speaking of "Winter Soldier".

Poster!!

Now, DC.

Superman/Batman is still rolling along, and if the time table for "Man Of Steel", holds, we should be getting a look at the Batman & Wonder Woman costumes within weeks.
Definitely by summer.

The rebooted Flash that's a spinoff of "Arrow", will have John Wesley Shipp (90's Flash) as a guest star in the pilot.
That'll be expanded into a recurring role if the pilot picks up as a series.
Cool!
I'll try to catch that.

Matt Ryan is Constantine.

"Gotham", is pretty much casted.

Aaand, I think that's it.

Quantum Dissolve: Chapter Twenty Three. (The man behind the mask behind the man)

2011

Summertime.
Joseph "Lash", Tamron was working on a new mask.
A mass production one for sale at stores.
Sculpting, molding, vacuum forming, the whole deal.

He was at the sculpting stage.
Slow going.
A lot of setbacks, and outright squashed flops.

But, finally, he had nailed it.
He stood back, and looked at his handiwork.

It couldn't seem to decide if it was a ghost, an alien, or a skull.
The finished version would be painted green, and have a black shroud on the back for covering up the wearer's hair.

He'd based it on the local Lentilville legend of The Green Monster.

He pointed at it, and said "you're gonna sell like hotcakes!".

2011

October 20th.
Dusty Irwin wandered through the grocery store, and then stopped dead in his tracks.

There was a display of Halloween masks, and one of them hypnotically grabbed his attention.

2011

October 21st
Irma Donovan wandered through the same grocery store, in the outskirts of Lentilville, technically in the next town over, and then stopped dead in her tracks.

There was a display of Halloween masks, and one of them hypnotically grabbed her attention.

Irma grinned wickedly, grabbed that sucker, and put it in her shopping basket.
A deep inner intuition told her it might be important.

2011

October 27th.

Dusty went back to the store.
The mask was gone.

Outwardly, he laughed it off.
Inwardly...he was crushed.

2014

The mask sat in a cardboard box of Irma's stuff, waiting to be found.
It would.
Soon enough.

Quantum Dissolve: Chapter Twenty Two. (The myth behind the mask)

Six year old Kimber Allison sat down at her writing desk with a notepad and a sharpie marker, and began to jot down some ideas.

17 years later...

Dusty was mopping the halls.
As he walked by Mrs. Ellicot's class, he overheard her telling her kids a story.

He smiled.
He could tell right away, it was The Green Monster.

The gist of it was all there, virtually unchanged.
The Lentilville witches, dead baby in the swamp, witches burnt, witch-ghosts plant a curse, baby comes back as Green Monster for revenge, yadda yadda.

The kids loved it.
Kids being naturally sick and creepy, they interjected their own questions and ideas into the thing.
It was delightful.

Delightful that the seeds were being planted, possibly for more Jade-Shades down the line.

Dusty flashed back to a younger teenage Mrs. Ellicott, applying green makeup to the face of his younger self, and grinned again.
Full circle.

He moved along.
Plenty of school left to mop.

Dusty finished his shift, and bundled up against the shitty 2014 winter.
Coat, ski gloves, and a blue hunting cap.
It was a bitch out.
He couldn't wait to tell Irma about her old story still having legs.

Recent comments.

Got sick of waiting for Google to fix theirs, got a new "recent comments", gadget from another site on the sidebar.
So, that feature finally works again.

So, what with "search", being fixed, everything on the sidebar works again.

Happy third observed Darwin Day!

So, last time, I went down through the calender, and broke it down that this is really about the only worthy holiday.
(And now, there's a new calendar, and we come full circle)

Anyway, it should all be scientists, artists, and peacemakers peppering our calendar.
Fuck these murderer and exploiter holidays.
It's the 21st century for fuck's sake.

And shame once again on Google for not having a doodle.

Yet more horror doc news!

Heeere's another one!

"Leviathan: The Story Of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II".

So, even the documentarians agree with me, only the first 2 count, and they're one big movie.

*Wipes tear* I'm so fucking happy.
Never let this stop.

Other docs in the pipeline...

Marvel Cinematic Universe updates.

Last time.

Marvel has indicated they want to do Thor 3, Cap 3, and Guardians 2.

So, with those, and Ant-Man, and the obligatory Avengers 3, that seems to seal up phase 3.

Does this bump Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Inhumans up to phase 4?

And what about a standalone Hulk 3 that everyone including Mark Ruffalo wants?

Will they do an expanded phase 3, or will they stubbornly insist on this "5 films a year", cycle bullshit?

Come on, Marvel, figure this shit out, don't fumble the ball now.

Tomes I've scanned into my noggin.

Or...
Literature review #7.
Course, those ones are gag reviews, but, why not keep continuity anyway?

So, here's two books with hunting caps...

The Catcher In The Rye (1951)

Quick rundown-
Almost everything said about this book, pro and con, is wrong.
Especially by so-called intellectuals.
Mark David Chapman and John Hinckley are fucking morons.
The various losers that hunted down Salinger hoping he'd be a guru to solve their problems were the ones that really needed to be shot.

Good book, enjoyed it, but I've seen better in my time.
Now, if this landed in my lap as a teenager, it probably would have been my bible.
In hindsight, glad I saved it for 38.

I can see why it was probably a nuclear mushroom cloud in the stuffy 50's.
Kinda tame now.
I actually think George Carlin's trilogy of books (sold in one volume as "An Orgy Of George") cuts deeper into the meat of social criticism.
But, pretentious college assholes are never going to praise him as "high literature".
Whatever.
Fuck 'em.

Anyway, the "meaning", of the book?
Sex abuse.
The impact of sex abuse, and society's denial of it.
It's not even subtle, it's in plain black and white when you get to the Mr. Antolini bit.
Everything else in the book, right up to the title, falls together like a puzzle when seen through that context.
Any reviewer that got a different answer is automatically wrong.

People that dismiss Holden as "just a spoiled brat", are themselves perpetuating the cycle of victim blaming, and denial.
Interesting that one of the most famous recent cultural cases of this, was Quagmire from "Family Guy", in his tearing down of Brian the dog.
Quagmire is a rapist.
There you go, pretty blatant.
I wonder if this was intentional, or happy coincidence.
Kudos to the writers if it was the former.

I actually don't think this should be enforced required reading in school.
School gets it wrong, and ruins it.
Get your kids to read it on their own.

Anyway, that's that one.
Liked it, didn't love it.
Glad I finally got to it though.

A Confederacy Of Dunces (1980)

Okay, now this one, I loved.

This one screams out to be a movie, but, Hollywood, as can be expected, can't get their shit together.

Hard to talk about this one, it's one of those ones you can't describe without spoiling the whole plot, and pretty much ending up telling the whole story in book report form.

Okay, I'll try...
Fat slobby guy, over-educated, lazy, mother forces him to get work, hi-jinks ensue.
Everyone in it is a wacky character you fall in love with.
My personal favorite, Myrna Minkoff.
Best crazy bitch that you're still able to like in all of literature.
They're all great though.

Funny as fuck.
Excellent book.
Read it.
Now.

Aaand, that's the end.
Yep.

Adding to my collection (Part 18)

Part 17.

X-Men and The Wolverine Collection (2014)

Badoosh!

So, yeah, I always liked these flicks, but I wasn't a total nut for them for some reason, BUT I did love "The Wolverine", and I really was ga-ga for "First Class", but, I couldn't just collect those, because the series is so inter-connected, so, I had to keep waiting for a collector's set to get cheap enough for the weaker ones to essentially be free.

Well, that day arrived at last!

And...upon re-watching, seeing them all as a continuous super-movie....this is yet another series I think I like better than Star Wars.

These have all the character archetypes, and rock-em sock-em, and gee-whiz, BUT the messages, and values, and philosophical arguments are way better.
Way better.

Even the chintziest one, "Origins: Wolverine", better for you than Yoda's fortune cookie horseshit.
Seriously, I can back this up, and win the argument.
Try me.

Anyway, I'm all set now for "Days Of Future Past".
Which, is being pimped by Empire magazine as "the biggest superhero movie ever".

To which I always mentally add "until 'Age Of Ultron', comes out". ;-)

But, hey, I liked "The Wolverine", a smidge better than "Iron Man 3", so, maybe Fox is becoming a contender.
I don't have a stake in who "wins", my only stake is seeing awesome movies, so bring it all on.

Anyway, here's the links for my individual reviews of the flicks in the set.
