Star Trek: Lower Decks, season 2 review.

Day after the finale, and on the exact same day last year as the first episode of Discovery season 3!
I waited  just so that would sync up. 😉😎

Previously with new-Trek-

Medium spoilers-

-Even better than last season!
-More Easter eggs for TAS! Massive ones. Literally.
-Guest stars this year were Riker, Tom Paris, Borg Queen, and Sonya Gomez.
With the exception of Riker, I didn't see any of them coming.
-We got a couple Picard Easter eggs (Quark's bar being franchised, Daystrom Institute), so they've finally tied into new-Trek.
-We finally saw Cetacean Ops!!
-They ended with a "Best Of Both Worlds" style cliffhanger!
-I'll say again, 90's Trek is back
-I'll also say again, might just be my favorite of the new ones.
We'll see how it goes with Prodigy.

Speaking of Prodigy, that drops in just two weeks!
Stay tuned!

Shit!
I've been a deadbeat dad of this comments section!
Okay! Catch-up time!

Re: Prince.
True.
I haven't heard everything, but I've got his old Batman soundtrack, and that definitely isn't all gold.

Re: Baby Driver
Yep, it was a nifty little one-watch movie.

Re: Little Big Man.
Yeah, but the whitewashing would be problematic today.
My mother read this giant ass series of novels about "the white Indian" and the racism of that flew right over her head.
She probably doesn't even remember readng those now.
I'll keep my mouth shut.

Re: Masterpiece films.
What about Bladerunner 2049?
But yeah, 8 times out of 10, they are hype.

Re: Age.
Ugh.
Wait until you're old enough to be the dad of the girls in porno.
That's a grim moment.

Re: Zodiac Killer.
Anything new?
I haven't had anything pop up on my boards or Facebook.

Re: Craig Bond.
I'll round the whole quintet off to Skyfall, and call it a day.

Re: Mission Earth.
Why have I never heard of this, and why hasn't it ruined Edgar Winter's legacy?
But then, why was John Travolta able to bounce back from Battlefield Earth?

Re: John Wick 2.
Yeah, I don't think I ever said they were masterpieces.
They're dumb popcorn stuff just one teeny notch on the dial smarter than Fast N Furious.

Prince - He has good stuff on most of his albums but "Purple Rain" kind of towers over the rest of his discography in my personal book...that one's a five star classic but his other highly lauded albums ("Dirty Mind," "1999," "Sign O' The Times") all felt overlong and larded down with loads of quasi filler stuff.
I don't think he liked the Batman soundtrack much--he was basically writing it out of his discography by the end of his life. I don't think it was ever even reissued.

I'll make it through the third John Wick, but the style of these movies is just off putting as hell. Like Michael Mann with the brain removed. I may have already said that.

Zodiac Killer - The FBI went hush hush at everybody and said noooo, this doesn't prove anything. Some people just went "ehhh, screw it" at that point, other people really want this to be him. Gary F. Poste died in 2018 at age 80 so if he did it we'll never catch Z. alive, but he was posting Amazon.com one star reviews of movies about serial killers, and some old buddy of his posted a picture of the two of them together with some caption like "hey old buddy! Zodiac?" which is really weird.
I'd never heard of Poste before this, with many people dumping Arthur Leigh Allen as a suspect (DNA, fingerprints, handwriting didn't match) in favor of Richard Gaikowski ("GYKE," a possible nickname, appears dead center in one of the ciphers) but there never seemed to be much evidence on Gaikowski.

Travolta - Probably bounced back because of $$$$$$$. He'd bounced back before anyway...

Tomorrow nite, Duuuuuuuu uuuuu uuuuuuuuu ne!!
