It's been confirmed via Twitter, Shatner will be back!
Well, I was apathetic before, but now I'm interested.
Dammit, you got me, Paramount, I'm on board.
Now, for 2 years of geek speculation of how they'll resurrect him.

I suppose they could surprise me, but this seems like an awful, awful idea. Shatner had reached the limit of playing Kirk credibly in Generations...and that was 20 years ago!
I also think this undermines the spirit of the reboot by resorting to still more dragging in of the TOS cast.
I've heard that Shatner may be playing future Chris Pine and NOT the TOS version of Kirk and that Nimoy may similarly play the aged version of QuintoSpock. Of course this means yet another grating time travel plot...

Well, if this had been part 1 or 2, or if part 3 landed on any other year, I might agree, but it's going to be the 50th anniversary.
Dr. Who did a multi-Doctor story for their 50th, why not have a TOS crossover for Trek's 50th?
D'oh! False alarm.
Stupid internet fooled me again.
Legit sources need to stop running away with bullshit.
