Okay, so how can everything I just laid out ( this, this, this, this, and this) fix up The Big Problems?
Well, here we go...
Terrorism?
For one thing, an end to religion.
And the answer for an end to religion?
Skepticism, and critical thinking.
North Korea?
An end to people being sheep that let dictators take hold.
The answer to that?
Critical thinking.
Ditto every other fucking dictator, so let's skip through those.
Peak oil, global warming, super viruses, asteroid collision, the sun going red giant, and finally, decay of the universe.
Medical advances, alternative energy, spaceships, asteroid blasters, etc.
Science.
Back again to critical thinking, and rationalism.
And if the internet isn't the vehicle for spreading this anti-virus to the four corners of the world, nothing is, and let's give up.
And all the geopolitical/economic shit?
Shit, I dunno, that might just get us.
That's a swirling ball of chaos barreling down as surely as the decay of the universe.
I'll tell ya what WON'T fix it.
Irrationality.
Praying.
Lucky horseshoes.
So, it'll take having our heads screwed on to even find the solution if it's out there.
And that'll take more rationalism.
Don't pray for that shit to come, cuz while your hands are clasped, you can't pluck answers from the air, and while you're eyes are closed, you can't see to do it.
And the empirical evidence, is the world this approach has made.
That I'm even having to write these damned rants.
Now, maybe I'm wrong, and all the above is naive.
But if it is, and I am, we know a couple thing for sure.
The politics of Godzilla didn't have the answer.
No rational solution on offer whatsoever.
May as well have sent the Three Stooges.
And magic didn't come to save the day.
So, if it's not those two, and it's not what I'm offering up, either we're fucked, or there's a whole other new way of thinking someone has to go and invent.
Well, get to it, folks.
Lemme hear it.
I'm all ears.
But, to find that whole new way of thinking, will take more thinking, which will prove me right.
Or, magic, and don't hold your breath on that shit.
