Dracula-thon (Part 7)

So...Dracula's been in a loooot of freakin' comic books over the decades...

Here's all of 'em at Comicvine....

Linky.

Cuz, I ain't doing all of 'em, no way in Hell.

But, I'll cover a bunch of 'em...

The Tomb Of Dracula (1972)

So, this was Marvel's foray.
The minute the comics code lifted their ban on horror comics, they leaped right back in.
Good for them.
Fuckin' comics code.

Interestingly, their Dracula was based not on Legosi, or Lee, but Jack Palance...a year before he'd actually go onto play the role.

In its 10th issue...

...it would introduce Blade.

Doctor Spektor (1974)

Dr. Spektor was a sort of all-purpose paranormal investigator, exterminator type guy.
Sort of a more badass Gary Collins from "The Sixth Sense".

Anyhoo, in issue #8, he fought, and presumably defeated, Dracula.

Then, in what ended up being the final issue, #25.....

...from 1982 (25 issues in 8 years? Jesus, spotty run there, Gold Key), someone pulls the stake out of Dracula's skeleton, reviving him almost instantly to life, and they (Drac n' Spek) have another go round.

I actually have this issue.
It's pretty fuckin' cool.

You see a flashback to the history of vampires, and a flashback to the limbo Drac goes to every time he gets croaked.

Scarlet In Gaslight (1988)

Dracula vs. Sherlock Holmes.
Need I say more?
Need I....say more?

Dracula In Hell (1992)

Hey, Dr. Spektor already did this premise in 2 friggin' panels.
Damned kids, with their de-compression storylines...

The Frankenstein Dracula War (1995)

It's Dracula vs. Frankenstein's Monster, vs. Count Saint Germain (a cool mythical immortal that a really dorky real-life cult is based around).

Van Helsing: From Beneath The Rue Morgue (2004)

A prequel to the Van Helsing film.

Dracula vs. King Arthur (2005)

Gotta love that public domain...

Nothing bails you out of a dry creative well, like public domain characters....

Dracula vs. Capone (2006)

*Stands in awe*

Apocalypse vs. Dracula (2006)

So..Marvel..your Dracula started out as Jack Palance...and now, he's...Danzig?

So...Danzig chops apocalypse's arm off...oh, really, Danzig so wishes.

Spike vs. Dracula (2006)

Oh, Jesus....

Yep, Buffy's little boyfriend....*eyeroll*

Capone didn't stop him, King Arthur barely tripped him up, legions of Belmonts, but platinum blonde goth boy is gonna take him out....*groan*

In 100 years, is some holo-blogger going to be doing the big Buffy-thon?
..they are, aren't they?
Bitch is gonna be classic literature by then....*sigh*

Victorian Undead (2011)

Drac vs. Sherlock..again!

I repeat my comments from "Dracula vs. King Arthur".

..dammit, so far, I desperately wanna see that Capone crossover..and I can't get Danzig's "Mother", out of my head....

Prophecy (2012)

Oh, boy, and I thought big-ass Witchblade-y crossovers were something...this is fucking epic....

This one's 7 issues, and has got...

Dracula, Eva, Abraham Lincoln, Allen Quartermain, Porthos, Aramis, Athos, Athena, Black Terror, Che Guevera, Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson, Edgar Allen Poe, Inspector Lestrade, Herbert West, Kulan Gath, Lone Ranger, Mulan Kato (Kato's daughter), Pantha, Red Sonja, Green Hornet, Zorro, and Vampirella!!

Wheee-heh-heh-heeelll!!

My....

So...that's all the ones I hadn't done before, that caught my eye on Comicvine...here's the repeats...

Batman & Dracula trilogy

Here.

Superman vs. Dracula

Also here.

Spider-Man vs. Dracula

Also also here.

And, being Marvel, it's the "Tomb Of Dracula", Drac.

Dr. Strange vs. Dracula

Ditto.

Silver Surfer vs. Dracula

Double ditto.

Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula

Triple ditto.

And...

Army Of Darkness: Ash vs. The Classic Monsters

Quadruple ditto.

And that one introduced...

Eva, the daughter of Dracula.
Who got her own title....

Eva: Daughter Of The Dragon

Here.

Which allowed her to cross over with...

...The Darkness, and...

...Hack/Slash.

Then, there's....

The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis II

The Simpsons are materialized out of a Simpsons comic in the Futurama 'verse, and a mishap continues the process into a library, setting free all literature characters, so, Dracula, and Frankenstein's Monster run loose.

Here.

Monster War

Magdalena vs Dracula, Tomb Raider vs. Wolf Men, Witchblade vs Frankenstein's Monster, and Darkness vs Mr. Hyde.

Here.

Vampirella vs. Dracula

Here.

Sword Of Dracula/ Vampirella:
Extended And Dangerous

Other chick is a Van Helsing descendant.

Here.

And then...

Dracula vs. Zorro

Here.

Who's also in that whole "Prophecy", crossover saga.

And finally....

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Here.

Which, of course, has Mina Harker/Murray from the Stoker novel.

Update on that...the 2009 one is a fucking train wreck.
Stick to the first two.
Volumes of the series period, not the century trilogy.
The third one (Black Dossier) has some good stuff, but it starts to lead into the disaster.
Best to quarantine it all off there.

Aaand, that's it.

Up next, Dracula comedies.
