This is a week or so late, but once again, I was read-a-thon-ing.
Okay, so all along, the DCEU has needed a Kevin Feige.
Well, they have a Kevin Feige, and it's...
And now the DCEU is just the DCU like it always should have been.
MCU, DCU. Easy-peasy. Why get cute about it?
So!! Short version, Gunn is rebooting everything, and the Snyder-verse DCEU is going away.
I still haven't seen or collected Black Adam.
Flash will use the multiverse to cause the reboot, so it won't be an erasure of what came before like the Halloween reboot-quels.
Just like when DC comics used "Crisis On Infinite Earths" to reboot their universe, and the first thing from the reboot-verse was John Byrne's "Man Of Steel" after "Flash" causes the reboot, James Gunn will personally write and direct the rebooted Superman "Superman Legacy".
Here's the post Snyder-verse slate...
-Creature Commandos (Animated Series)
-Waller (Live-Action TV Series)
-Superman Legacy (Movie – July 11th 2025)
-Lanterns (Live-Action TV Series)
-The Authority (Movie)
-Paradise Lost (TV Series)
-The Brave and the Bold (Movie)
-Booster Gold (Live-Action TV Series)
-Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (Movie)
-Swamp Thing (Movie)
Hey! "Creature Commandos"!
I just read that! I said it was a literary Troma movie.
James Gunn came out of Troma, so naturally, he's a fanboy!
"The Brave and the Bold" will be a Batman movie with Damian Wayne Robin, and Batgirl.
It'll be separate from the "The Batman" universe.
The Batman 2 and 3 are still coming.
Joker 2 is still coming.
Wonder Woman 3 is dead.
Black Adam 2 is dead.
Superman 2 with Henry Cavill is dead.
Michael Keaton Batman being the Nick Fury of Snyder-multiverse? Kiss it goodbye.
"Superman Legacy," "The Brave and the Bold," and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" will connect to form the foundation of the new Gunn-verse.
Rather than build out one hero at a time the way the MCU and Snyder-verse did, Gunn-verse will jump right in with all the heroes being established, and part of regular life.
Good! That's slowed DC down like a motherfucker, having to start over with origin stories every 5-10 years.
Glad to see that era come to an end at last.
Or, put even more simply, the Gunn-verse will look a lot like the DC animated movie universe.
"Paradise Lost" is about the Amazons.
"Waller" and presumably season 2 of "Peacemaker" will be the last vestiges of Snyder-verse.
No word on if "Swamp Thing" will be connected to Gunn-verse or its own thing.
No word on if Gunn-verse is going to steal the Batgirl from the cancelled and shelved Batgirl movie for "Brave And The Bold". He should. No need to re-recast.
Presumably, the non-Suicide Squad connected shows will be Gunn-verse.
"The Authority" is its own bubble-verse like in the comics.
Personally, not a fan, but whatevs.
Aaand, that's that!
Stay tuned for the new recastings!
