Bruce Campbell wants to do 5 seasons of "Ash vs Evil Dead". Also, Starz just renewed it for season 3. 2 to go... http://www.darkhorizons.com/ash-v-evil-dead-renewed-for-season-3/
"My Friend Dahmer", adapted from the graphic novel by Derf Backderf, and starring Ross Lynch is coming. Hopefully, this will be better than previous Dahmer movies.
Oh, for fuck's sake! Paramount cancelled the Friday the 13th re-reboot. And because "Rings", sucked. When a movie flops, it's not because we want less of that genre, it's because you made a piece of shit, and you knew it was a piece of shit, because you shelved it for two fucking years. This is studio heads protecting their own egos by punishing someone else. Fuck you, you fucking cowards.
Dearest Screamers - I know what you’re thinking, where the #$%& is this movie? We owe you all a long-overdue update about where we are on the Scream, Queen project. We’ve been quietly working with our heads down to bring this story to life, and as life want to do, we’ve been navigating a few curve balls along the way. We’ll save all of you from the tedious hours upon hours of footage that we had to go through. The historical research and tracking down old photographs and news clippings take time. These are the un-sexy moments of filmmaking that no one particularly likes to romanticize. Did I get super excited while sifting through a decade of newsprint articles on microfilm at the New York Public Library? Absolutely! Do we think people want to be updated everytime we do? Probably not. We have organized, cut, rearranged, re-organized, re-cut...and so on for months now, all while maintaining full time jobs to keep the lights on and the laptops running. This is a long, frustrating but rewarding process. BUT we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are diligently working hard on our 3rd edit and crafting our intro/end sequences that require the utmost attention. We’ve begun work with some composers and animators to begin reining in the final touches of the film. ‘So finish it already,’ you say? Well again, that would be too easy. When we started this project, we were clear that we wanted to go a step beyond a traditional fan doc. For us, it wasn’t enough to bask in the nostalgia of our favorite horror franchise, and rehash old anecdotes, we really want to rip it apart and explore the culture in an around the time this movie was made and its continued effect 30 years later. Through the many months of editing, lots of life happened. Mark has been up, down and sideways in his career, moving and traveling. That created an interesting opportunity in the documentary that we couldn’t of anticipated. The film has become bigger than any one person working on this journey and it deserves the full respect and care we dedicated ourselves to from the beginning. So with that, we are asking you all for your patience and encouragement. The crew is working hard, Mark is making moves and now we need you to help by being supportive and understanding. Never would we want anyone to feel discouraged or left out in the process. Hence this long update. We know we are lucky to have your support and we really want to deliver on our promise of giving you not just a good movie, but a great one. So, keep up the love, know we have not forgotten about you and remember there is a behind the scenes crew constantly working while life goes on. We’ll be making more of an effort to make documentary filmmaking sexy again. Finally, if you have not received rewards from the Kickstarter project – please message us with what you have not received! Everything has been sent out, so you all should be good. Of course the digital download and DVD's will be out after production. Audio commentary is done and will be sent out soon. And now that Mark has moved and settling back in – we have the 8x10's and will be sending those shortly as well.
Y'know what? I don't give a fuck about updating all horror news. I started the first Halloween only really giving a fuck about Freddy, Jason, and Ash. Nowadays, it's Freddy, Jason, Ash, and Stranger Things. And Death House. So, next Halloween, update all this shit, then announce I'm whittling it down even more.
Oh, and a book has come out about the development Hell of Freddy vs Jason called "Slash Of The Titans".
So, with "Slash Of The Titans", "Nightmares In The Makeup Chair", and "Scream, Queen", there's finally some movement on the Freddy front, even if it's nostalgia.
