So!!! Remember a whole fucking year ago now that the Toxie remake/reboot was cancelled and shelved by chickenshit distributors?
Remember how it's been two fucking years ago since it was supposed to go right out the door?
Well!! Someone picked it up, and it's back on!!!
And....I've been abused too much. I don't care anymore.
I'm Troma-ed out.
Same with franchise horror, I'm not a teenager anymore.
Real Troma movies have seen better days.
I've never worked up the willpower to see/buy Return To Nuke 'em High part 2.
That 80's period of throwing Molotovs at Reagan, and me being a young pup was lightning in a bottle.
You can't re-create it.
Like I said about "Revenge Of The Sith" the kiddies can have it now.
If a local theater gets the reboot, I might give in to temptation, and check it out.
Might. I dunno. I'll play it by ear.
I hope the reboot inspires a new generation of anti-corporate anti-Trump protestors and artists....but they seem to be doing just fine without Troma for inspiration.
I think the Troma aesthetic has actually become the mainstream.
Internet meme humor is Troma-y out the yin-yang.
Maybe Lloyd Kaufman lost all those little battles, and won the war, and he doesn't know it.
Maybe Lloyd is the Zelenskyy of cinema.
Now there's a thought....
Anyway, yeah.
I've got the old movies, but I don't have to turn myself inside out anymore over the new stuff.
I'm not rejecting the new one, but I won't absolutely die if I don't see it either.
Again, we'll see.

The only Troma film I ever really cared for was "Class Of Nuke 'Em High" and even that's more of a "whoa, get a load of this goofy shit" thing than something I cherish watching a million times. Some of the other Troma movies I watched were honestly turds. So I'm not terribly attached to this. I watched the trailers for the Nuke 'Em High sequels on the DVD, and thought to myself "nah, I'm good."
That being said, I didn't know they were still going. Lloyd is 80 and the last I saw of him was when he guested on an Angry Video Game Nerd thingy. I can't remember the last time I heard about a new Troma movie, though I did hear about this alleged Toxie remake. How does Troma earn a profit? And yeah, Internet meme humor HAS pretty much decimated people's need to watch Troma movies to see quirky weird low budget gross out stuff. The Internet has led to TOO MUCH populism!!!!
Looks like Lloyd's final movie before retiring was "Shakespeare's Shitstorm" in 2020. Guess he got too old for Toxie 5. It kept getting kicked further and further out, and now it's gone. The reboot takes its place.

Oh well. At least he got to retire, like I said I always wondered how much money Troma actually made.
I actually still think that multiple choice test you can take on the Troma DVDs is really funny.
Actually, he's pretty rich. You know in the Wal-Mart bargain bins, those collections of old 40's-50's horror movies, like 8-10 of 'em at a whack for 5 bucks? Lloyd gets a piece of all of those. He went on a buying spree of flicks that fell in public domain. He's got a nice little nest egg.
