Masters Of Horror! (Lloyd Kaufman)

Hey, kids!! It's Uncle Lloydie!!

"Geez, Mike, how many times are you going to cover Lloyd Kaufman/Troma?".

Until I finally nail it.
This time, for sure!

Well, the introduction to Lloyd, and Troma, I pretty well nailed here.
Read that intro, and come back here.

The Girl Who Returned (1969)
The Battle Of Love's Return (1971)
Big Gus, What's The Fuss? (1973)

See here, and here.

Okay, I finally made it through "Big Gus, What's The Fuss?", and...it's not totally horrible, it's kinda cute if you can get into it, but it's only worth one watch, even if you're a Troma completist.

Rocky (1976)

See here.

Lloyd played the wino.

Squeeze Play! (1979)
Waitress! (1981)
Stuck On You! (1982)
The First Turn-On! (1983)

See here, and here.

The Toxic Avenger (1984)

See here, and here.

Class Of Nuke 'Em High (1986)

See here.

Troma's War (1988)

See here, and here.

The Toxic Avenger Part II (1989)

See here.

The Toxic Avenger Part III:
The Last Temptation Of Toxie (1989)

See here, here, and here.

I've ragged on these two (II and III), but they've got a nostalgic charm, I'd kind of like to collect them.

Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. (1991)

See here, and here.

Astonishing as it is, there are FANS of this one!
There are people for whom this is their favorite Troma movie!

Well...it's got a catchy theme, and it's the origin of the flipping green station wagon clip that's been in every (Lloyd directed) Troma movie since.

It's got that going for it.
*Shrug*

Tromeo & Juliet (1997)

See here.

The rebirth.

Terror Firmer (1999)

See here.

Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000)

See here, here, and here.

Okay, now, "Poultrygeist", was supposed to be the very next Troma movie, but, I dunno, there was money troubles, or something, and Lloyd veered off with all this other stuff....

Parts Of The Family (2003)

So, this was an unfinished no-budget serious horror movie done by someone else, and they were an inept schlock-meister, so, Lloyd filmed extra funny scenes with himself and other Troma people to fill in the gaps, and re-edited, and re-dubbed it into a funny version.

Both versions are available on the DVD.

Sounds fun, will have to check it out.

Tales From The Crapper (2004)

I can't get a straight consensus on this, half the people say it's one of the worst movies of all time, period, others laud it as the funniest Troma movie they've ever seen.

It's got all the guest stars who were in "Citizen Toxie", and it's an anthology that's a parody of "Creepshow", but....it looks like it was filmed with digital home movie cameras.

So, okay, reading up here, the backstory seems to be, Lloyd and Michael Herz gave these anonymous young nitwits 2 million to make a horror web series based on a web comic that was up on the Troma site, and they failed miserably, and the footage was mostly unusable, and the money was pissed away, so, Lloyd got all his celeb friends together, and they pulled another "Parts Of The Family", out of their asses, and shot new footage, and hammered it to a shape, and made another comedy.

Jeez, 2 million is a lot of money for Troma, a debacle like that, I can see how that probably almost destroyed them.

Well, that totally explains the delay of "Poultrygeist".
I assume they're finally back in the black by now, but, yikes.

Make Your Own Damned Movie! (2005)

It is what it says it is, film school in a box.

Companion piece to the book of the same name, and, I think it comes with the book.
Or, there's an extra pricey super-duper version that comes with the book.
Either way.

I dunno, I don't have a speck of ability or ambition to be a filmmaker, but I'd still kinda like to see it.

It's got all the cool people he knows, James Gunn, Stan Lee, Trey Parker, Roger Corman, etc, etc.
Even some big name filmmakers.

Slither (2006)

Directed by James Gunn.
Lloyd cameos as "sad drunk".
Ended up on the cutting room floor.

The behind the scenes of the filming of his cameo is on the 10th anniversary "Tromeo & Juliet", DVD though, so, you get it back, and then some.

Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead (2006)

See here.

Finally, they did "Poultrygeist".
And it was worth the wait.

Super (2010)

See here, here, here, and here.

Another James Gunn, another cameo.

Hatchet II (2010)

See here, and here.

Cameo.

Father's Day (2011)

Lloyd plays God, and The Devil.

Okay, all of this is a sliver, check out Lloyd's IMDB page, he'll do a cameo for any young up-and-comer.
Horror, comedy, porn parody, you name it.
That's pretty cool of him.

Return To Nuke 'Em High
Volume 1 (2013)

Touring film festivals right now.
Not on DVD yet.
No word on the release for that.

Check out the trailer!

Angry Video Game Nerd The Movie (2014)

Cameo.

The plot is, the urban legend that Atari's 2600 E.T. game was such a colossal flop, they had all these worthless unused cartridges hanging around, so they dumped them in a secret location, and buried them, and this landfill of E.T. cartridges is still out there.

So, fast-forward to 2013-14, and AVGN tries to find them for his ultimate review of the world's shittiest game, and a shady government agency tries to stop him, and hi-jinks ensue.

Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)

See here.

Another James Gunn, another cameo.

And now, Lloyd will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Stan Lee!

There, I think that's finally got it.

Tomorrow, David Cronenberg.
