Couple delayed DC show reviews.

I admit, I've been slacking on the blog, but where I've been slacking here, I've been all-in on other projects.
Only so much time in the day.

Aaanyhhooo!!

Batwoman Season 2 (2021)
-and-
Superman & Lois season 1 (2021)

Okay, first, Batwoman!

Spoilers ahead!
You've been warned!

The season 2 reboot/recast saga-

Okay, for this one, let's go through those rumors, and see what was true, and what wasn't.

Vanessa Morgan from "Riverdale", is allegedly in the running to play the new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder, and she's expected to screen test soon.

If true, so much for them searching for an LGBT actress, Morgan is married to a dude.

Next up, rumored plot details.

Scarecrow is going to be the big-bad of season 2, and he kills Ryan's mom, which inspires her to don the cowl, and become Batwoman to fight him.

Nope.
Scarecrow's gas gets turned into an injectable street drug sold by Black Mask, and Alice kills Ryan's mom.

How does she get the cowl away from Kate?
What happens to Kate?
How do they resolve season 1's cliffhanger?

They kill Kate offscreen.

*Fart noise*
Yeah, I don't like it, but they were painted into a corner.

What did happen, was they fake-killed Kate in a plane crash, Ryan Wilder digs the batsuit out of the crash rubble, and starts Batwoman-ing, then a lot of episodes of the batcave team accepting and adjusting to her, then Kate Kane comes back with her face burned off, and Alice uses her skin graft talent to make her a new face, and she becomes Wallis Day from "Krypton".
Then Wallis-Kate goes off to find Batman/Bruce (cuz he's still mysteriously missing from season 1).

As to how they resolved the cliffhanger of Alice turning Hush into fake-Bruce, they tied that up REALLY quick by just having Ryan-Batwoman beat the shit out of him until his fake face came off.

Boom, done.
If they hadn't had to sort out all the recasting stuff, they probably would have milked that all season.
I'm glad it died a quick death, the Black Mask arc was better.

So much for Ruby Rose being able to come back for crossovers, or finales, or whatever.

Well, Kate's morphed into Wallis Day, so Wallis Day will be Kate for any future comebacks.
I'm betting on that they just never have Kate or Bruce come back.
So, as far as Ruby Rose is concerned, she may as well have been killed.

And are they gonna kill or abandon Alice?
She carried the fucking show, IMHO.

Oh, Hell no!
Her character was the glue that held this season together!
She saved the fucking day onscreen and off.
Alice ain't going anywhere!
She's the real star of the fucking show!
Like Kato was the real star of Green Hornet.

Of course, this assumes this is real.
As the headline says, it's all rumor.
We'll see in coming weeks and months.

June of last year I posted that, and it was surprisingly close.
Either the leaker/reporter got tiny little details wrong, or the writers were still pounding out a rough draft.

Anyway! How did I like the season?
In spite of the replacement of the star, and all the shit they had to write around like a quintuple bypass operation....surprisingly good!
I'd go as far to say better than last season!
Will be collecting it on disk!

Now!
For Superman & Lois.

Love it.
I think this might be my favorite Superman live-action incarnation since the Chris Reeve movies.

"Man Of Steel" is visually and emotionally awesome, but it's a rehash of the origin story.

"Batman v Superman" is awesome, but it's a mashup of "Dark Knight Returns" and "Death Of Superman".

"Justice League" is great, but we've had the Justice League origin in animation twice.
In comics, more times than can easily be counted.

"Lois and Clark" and "Smallville" eh...I could never get into them.
The former was just the standard comic book formula, and the latter was the prequel years stretched out.

This is the first time they've moved the story forward.
Superman actually grows here!
And its been too long coming.

I'm calling it, this is the best of the CW DC shows.
Hands down.

Flash and Legends need to be put to sleep.
CW cancelled the wrong fucking shows.

Aaand...even though the effects are cheaper, the arc of this season...I'm gonna go ahead and be brave, and say it was better story wise than "Man Of Steel".
And...there's some bits in there that even call back to "Brightburn".

Very good.
Very pleased.
Highly recommended.

Will also be collecting this on disk!
