From here..
Annapurna has picked up the screen rights to Grady Hendrix’s forthcoming horror novel “The Final Girl Support Group” with plans to adapt the book as a series.
Both homage and subversion of iconic slasher films, the story is described as “a fresh new take on the beloved horror sub-genre, while also capturing the cultural zeitgeist around true crime stories.”
The story follows a group of middle-aged women who have been in therapy together for decades – ever since one was attacked by a Texan cannibal family, one by a machete wielding maniac at summer camp, one by an older brother who returned to settle scores on Halloween, and one by a lunatic who allegedly entered their dreams.
These are the middle-aged survivors of the real-life crimes the slasher movies are based on. Some of them are addicts, some are in denial, and some have become motivational speakers. And now the final girls are mysteriously dying, one by one.
Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (“The Fix”) are set to pen the adaptation and Hendrix will serve as executive producer.
No word on what network the show would even be on.
No word yet on casting.
Be sweet if they could get the actual actresses from the mentioned horror films.
Cuz, wink, wink, they're obviously Sally Hardesty, Alice Hardy, Laurie Strode, and Nancy Thompson.
