Dunno if you were going to see the William Freidkin/Matthew McConaughey NC-17 violent black comedy "Killer Joe" from a few years back but it's only good because of the actors. The whole thing just descends into kinda chaos and messiness by the end. The actors all do really well though.
2 episodes of season 2 of "True Detective" to go yet. So far it's not quite as bad as you've been told, but it's not really actually good either.
