Well, I've got it, anyway. Now to get it downloaded into my head.

Yep. Maus is the greatest achievement in comics.

The holy trinity of great 1986 masterpieces was "Dark Knight Returns" "Watchmen" and "Maus".

"Maus" wins. Hands fucking down.

If there's something better than Maus, their marketing team has failed to get word to my ears.

Fun fact: as I mentioned way back here, 7 years ago, Art Spiegelman worked on Garbage Pail Kids before Maus. GPK first series dropped in '85, the Maus collected edition dropped in '86.

That might seem like overnight success, but he'd been working on Maus since the 70's. 

So!!

Basic plot: "Artie" Spiegelman interviews his dad, Vladek Spiegelman, about his holocaust experiences.

Things go from good, to bad, to exceedingly worse as you would expect in the holocaust flashback timeframe, while amusing hi-hinks happen with elderly Vladek in the modern-day timeframe which relieves some of the tension.

And of course, unless you've lived under a rock, you know about the gimmick of Jews being mice, Nazis being cats, Americans being dogs, and assorted other ethnic groups being other animals.

Yeah, fuck the book burners. They are Nazis. "Moms for liberty" are fucking Nazis.

One hundred fucking percent. No wiggle room.

No genuine good intent can be extracted from their dirty deeds.

This book is all too relevant now. 😓😩😬😡

Well, at least the courts, and media, and internet, and activists are putting up a fuss about El Salvador.

Nobody put up a fuss for the Jews. Much of one, anyway.

Even in-book, Artie asks why the Jews didn't resist more.

Vladek answers, no one could believe their own eyes, and even when they did, they kept hoping and hoping that the Americans and/or Russians would come over the hill any minute before they took the bullet, and soon it was just too late, and everyone was too weak, and outgunned.

Well, we have the history books, and books like Maus this time!

Although, again, in-book, Artie and his shrink bemoan that despite all the books, people don't fucking learn. 😓😒

And, today Trump just arrested a judge. Of course, Fox thinks it's awesome.

So!! Yeah!! Everyone read "Maus" while you still fucking can!
