Documentaries I want (Number 13)

Number 12.

Just when I thought the list was done...

That Guy Dick Miller (2014)

If you're a fellow gen-X'er you probably know him as Mr. Futterman from "Gremlins", or the gun store owner in "Terminator", but he's been in fucking everything, and this doc finally gives his massive career its due.

(See also "Freddy's Nightmares", Roger Corman, and Joe Dante)

Man, what a great time to be  alive this is.
Documentaries popping out like mushrooms everywhere.

Now, as always, the list...

And the books...

My favorite kind of documentary that's been popping up involves examine weird little nerd subcultures, like "Jandek On Corwood," or "Resurrect Dead: Mystery Of The Toynbee Tiles." Did you see "The King Of Kong: A Fistful Of Quarters"?

No, but I suppose I ought to.
I thought you were the one that told me it was too painful to watch these guys.

Oh! Did I say it was painful? Hmmm, it's actually a lot of fun, but man are there ever some PATHETIC nerds involved with the Donkey Kong contest...both the people playing in it and the people running it.

The most pathetic guy in the movie is named Brian Kuh (pronounced "q.") He's this bespectacled nerd who walks around an arcade telling everyone they're about to see a Donkey Kong arcade machine crash. My jaw was literally going through the floor, and I thought to myself that if you ever feel really bad about your life, or hate yourself, you can always look in the mirror and say "well at least I'm not Brian Kuh."

But, ultimately, you be the judge. I'm not really recommending the Toynbee Tiles movie, it was fairly mediocre and they never get to the talk to the guy they think lays the tiles.
