Big 2019 Movies Part 2.

Part 1 (Glass)

After what seemed like a goddamned eternity, it's....

Captain Marvel (2019)

Previously on MCU phase 3....

Ahhhhh, there!!
  • I dug it a lot.
  • It's a slow burn in the first half, but I like world-building and character building stuff. If you didn't mind the farm stuff in Ultron, you'll be fine.
  • Get there in time. They do something really special with the logo.
  • Stan's cameo is fucking awesome.
  • The continuity dots for a bunch of the movies are connected.
  • Great selection of 90's girl-power songs.
  • There's actually a scene that gives a finger to the "why doesn't she smile?", assholes.
  • Carol Danvers is frigging great. Most super-hero-ey of the characters so far.
  • Good overarching message of believing in yourself, and ignoring the controlling turds that say "you can't do it".
  • Stay for both after credits scenes.
  • You'll be even more pumped for Endgame!!
  • Overall...not top tier with Infinity War, or Civil War, or Avengers 1, but...definitely among the Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, Guardians 2 tier.
  • Fuck the trolls, they need to die. I hope this makes a billion.

Do I actually have to tell you to go see it?
It's Marvel, if you've stuck around this long, of course you're going to see it.

Next up for Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Next up for these, Shazam!!

Pop culture updates #29.

Another trickle of Ghostbusters casting news!
It's...

Ernie Hudson!!

Yeah, I know, I know, "no fucking duh!".
Safe to say, bare minimum, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will be in it.
But, it's officially confirmed, so we can check one off the list.

Aykroyd, Murray, Moranis, Weaver, and Potts left to go!

More to come!
Stay tuned!

Pop culture updates #28.

And, the Ghostbusters 3 casting news begins!

Finn Wolfhard ("Stranger Things", "IT"), and Carrie Coon (Proxima Midnight from "Infinity War"), are playing a mother and son.

From Dark Horizons-

The story for the sequel to the two original films is said to focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon as the mom and Wolfhard as her son. More family members have yet to be cast.

More to come then!

Ghostbusters in 2014.

In "Ghostbusters in 2015", I retroactively added the 31st anniversary.

Then, it got rolling around in my head, I really ought to fix up the 30th anniversary, because it was not only belated, but weak sauce.
And the date was wrong.

So, here's the fixed better version...

Happy 30th anniversary, Ghostbusters!!!!!

Lotta goodies!!
There was an Entertainment Weekly cover story.
The cast (minus Dan) were on The Today Show.
Dan was on Today Show separately.
IDW comics did a special 12 issue arc.
And here's my dumb little retrospective things here and here.

Gee, wouldn't it be great if in 2 years, they did a female reboot, and then 4 years after that, they did a third chapter of the originals?

And I bet there would be no fan controversy with either one!!
Because the internet is wonderful, and not full of assholes at all!!
And Russian hackers and trolls would never cause us to have a reality game show host for a president!!
Not ever!!
Wheeee!!

There, much better.
Now, to retro-link this in place of the old one to the 32nd, 33rd, and 34th anniversaries, and the first viewing of Answer The Call.

Pop culture updates #27.

Oh, yeah, and in other Ghostbusters news, this happened...

Into The Dead 2: Ghostbusters.

From what I gather, regular "Into The Dead", is a standard zombie apocalypse 3rd person shooter game, but now "Into The Dead 2", has a Ghostbusters skin, and Ghostbusters story levels.

So, if you liked "Ghostbusters World", (see here and here) but wanted it to be less like "Pokemon Go", and wanted more running-and-gunning, here's your game.

As we get closer to the 35th anniversary, we get more and more goodies.
Stay tuned.

Pop culture updates #26.

Ahh, screw it, I'll fold my "evolution of franchises", thing into this series.

So, there's those again.

There, easier to get at.
