There!!! Jesus!!!
It was driving me crazy!! It was literally driving me crazy!!
Not since my Optimus Prime toy when I was 10, Freddy vs Jason, GB:Answer The Call, and The Force Awakens, has a wait for a thing been more painful and frustrating.
I could barely get to sleep last night!!
Anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Wind's Twelve Quarters (1975)
Being a fruit salad mixture of short stories from Hainish-verse, Earthsea, and self-contained.
Originally came out the year I was born!
Contains "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas" and "The Day Before The Revolution"
I said in those two reviews I was gonna get this. Well, here it is!!
As for the Earthsea stories, I'm sure they're duplicated in the big collection.
The way the stuff is published, it's hard to get all of Le Guin's stuff without ending up with doubles.
(See next book below)
Part of my frustration was none of Maine's brick stores would cough this the fuck up.
Bullmoose openly fought me. They wouldn't even try.
They tried with Sandman, and all of those came.
They acted like it would sacrifice a knight to get it.
The fuck!?!? Just try!! If it doesn't come, then it doesn't come.
Nope. "Sorry, we just can't do it".
I dunno, is this on a radical fundie-Christian ban/watch list??
It's like I was looking for the fucking Necronomicon.
Ridiculous. Well, it's fucking mine now. Suck it.
Oh, also, delivery got held up in the bottleneck between holidays.
That's my fault for not ordering sooner. That's on me.
Chanting that in my head didn't make the wait any less teeth grating though.
Hainish Novels & Stories, Volume Two (2017)
Being the collection of....
-The Word For World Is Forest (1972) (see what I mean about doubles?)
-Five Ways to Forgiveness (1995)
-The Telling (2000)
And the short stories from...
-A Fisherman Of The Inland Sea (1994)
-The Birthday Of The World (2002)
As I said on New Year's...
Went with a circuit pattern to evoke the ansible/churten from the Hainish series.
Ansible = FTL communicator.
Churten = beaming a person or ship through, but it causes weird reality-scrambling side-effects.
Maybe someone fucked up our timeline by churtening.
Sure feels like it.
Well, the "Fisherman" stories are basically the churten trilogy.
So, I'm excited for those.
For Star Trek, I'm a transporter junkie, so to see Le Guin's take on it will be interesting.
After the grief I got from Bullmoose over "Wind's" I knew not to even try with this one.
I got all this shit online.
So, getting the collection this way, all that got left out is the short story "Coming of Age in Karhide".
But, I found it on PDF. See here.
So I've got everything.
All of Hainish, all of Earthsea.
Blam.
Stay tuned for both of those read-a-thons.
Blood In The Holler (2023)
I know this author.
We go back a long ways.
All they way back to the earliest Wordforge times.
He came back after a decade-plus absence with this under his arm.
It's about 90's wrestlers who get caught up in crime shenanigans.
Sounds fun.
Much as I'd like to jump right into this one, I think its best slot would be as a palette cleanser between Hainish and Earthsea.
So, stay tuned for that too.
TV has been fucking miserable, so holding my attention to my reading should be easy.
Here we fucking go....
