Meedyah Morsels #93.

The followup/sequel to the Spidey-verse speculation post.

Warning: "Spider-Man: Far From Home", spoilers!!

Okay, so Far From Home is out now, I've seen it, so I know what's up.
So here we go.

As I said in the "Far From Home", review...

Do I have to throw out all my Spidey-verse theories?? Kinda....and kinda not....It's subtler.

Okay, so here's the spoilers why.

So all the multiverse stuff set up in the trailers?
Bullshit.
Mysterio was lying.

BUT.....

J.K. Simmons pops up in the mid-credits as J. Jonah Jameson.

If J.K. is Jameson in the Raimi-verse and the MCU, that hints enough at multiverse.

Plus, multiverse was introduced in the cosmic trip scene in "Doctor Strange".

So, we don't get direct porthole-ing across the Spider-verse like in "Spider-verse", but we get enough of a hint.

If MCU Jonah is an alternate of Raimi-verse Jonah, that connects the Raimi trilogy.

"Spider-verse", shows flashes of the upside down kiss from Spider-Man 1, and the train stopping scene from Spider-Man 2.

Donald Glover is in "Homecoming", as Miles Morales's uncle, and his license plate is the issue number Miles got introduced.
Donald Glover is on a TV screen in "Spider-verse", wearing a Spider-Man shirt.

A trailer for "Spider-verse", is in the after credits of "Venom", with the caption preceding it "meanwhile, in a parallel universe..".

Stan Lee is in all those universes.

Stan Lee is hanging out with the Watchers in Guardians 2, and Watchers can observe and travel dimensions, so all the Stan Lees are the same one.

So, that connects MCU, Raimi-verse, Spider-verse-verse, and Venom-verse.

What about the Marc Webbs?

Gwen Stacy.
She dies in "Amazing 2", she lives and her Peter dies in "Spider-verse".
Her mere existence is connection enough there.
Plus, again, Stan was in those.

Like I said in the quote above, it's subtler, but it's enough.

Now as to whether Sony is going to re-up their deal with Marvel...I would have to say so.

"Far From Home", leaves us with a big fat cliffhanger that can only be resolved with a Homecoming 3.

J. Jonah Jameson plays a video where Mysterio frames Spidey for his murder, and then outs Peter Parker as Spidey.

That needs a followup.
And Marvel doesn't leave threads dangling, when they have a cliffhanger, they have a plan.
Homecoming 3 is probably being written as we speak.

So, yeah, my theories had to be trashed, but....on another level, they can be adapted to the new situation.

I think Spider-verse 2, and/or Gwen Stacy Spinoff will connect things more.
There was actually a scene in Spider-verse where McGuire, Garfield, and Holland Spideys pop up, but it got cut.
Holland even said he recorded a line for it.

Plus, people in Sony and Marvel are talking a Spidey/Venom crossover.

So, we'll see what the future brings.
The seeds are certainly planted.
We'll see if they sprout and bear fruit.

Here's hoping.

Now, I'll retro-link this to the "Far From Home", review in the quoted sentence.

Anything to say about Ross Perots death?

Part of me will miss the crazy little bastard.
He shook things up.
In hindsight, maybe in some bad ways.
Someone pointed out, we don't get Perot, we don't get Clinton, we don't get Hillary's candidacy, we don't get Trump.
But, there could be some timeline where we get Gore, and then no 9/11.
So....

Rip Torn also just passed.
I'll probably miss him more.

I just remembered your"GO Ross GO!" Rant for on way back when...but he did lose it pretty bad. 1992 was a weird time to have a brain...so many smart people liked Perot but also thought that Japan was gonna rule the world...

Rip was hilariously cast as the king of France in Marie Antoinette...
