Evil Dead 4?!?!?!?
Maybe.

Remember WAY back, when the plan for the franchise was this mess?

Well, after Evil Dead 4 morphed into 3 seasons of "Ash vs Evil Dead", and it seemed like that plan quietly blew away like a puff of campfire smoke in the wind, it looks like we're right back there.

Sam Raimi recently said....

“I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert] and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie. We’d like to make another ‘Evil Dead’ feature and in fact we’re working on some ideas right now.”

..and, re: Bruce saying he's retired from playing Ash...

“I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original ‘Evil Dead’ line. But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede [Álvarez] would come back and make the sequel… but he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that. But there’s also a third possibility we’re talking about…I think you may see some action on the Evil Dead movie in the next six months.”

Well, I'll watch anything they make.
Be it Evil Dead 4 in the Ash timeline, or Evil Dead 2 in the Mia timeline.
Or, whatever this "third possibility", thing is.

Bring it the fuck on.
I was happy to kick back and relax forever with the trilogy, the remake, and the shows, but any time they want to add on to it, I'm ready.

Another GB20 pic already!

McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Celeste O'Conner, and Logan Kim.

Oh, and that "Rust City", logo above, it's the fake production title for the movie, and you can see that image (although a little pixelated on the zoom-in) on the clapper board in the last image.

Someone out in internet-land fanart-ed that one from the clapper board image.
That's my new GB20 headline graphic until something better comes along.

Anyway, they started filming today, so something else might drop.

A tidbit for "Star Trek: Picard".

A poster!!

So, he's a dog person now.
Okey-dokey.
Someone pointed out, the dog has clipped ears, so much for the enlightened future.

Anyway, that's a little appetizer nugget from CBS/Paramount before San Diego Comic-Con.

There's supposed to be more stuff, probably a longer trailer, and a cast photo with character names.

And at long last, our first glimpse at "Lower Decks".

So, stay tuned for that, I'll probably lump together one big SDCC post like last year.

Happy pre-anniversary, Ghostbusters 2020!!

Yep, a year from right now is when it comes out.
And it's after lunchtime, so I will have seen it.
This Sunday, they start shooting.

So, here's a recap of all the GB20 news so far...

See you literally next year!!
:-D

Oh, and its also the 11th anniversary of Harry Hembock: Dark Designs.
I couldn't think of anything to say about it this year.
But, from now on, I'll remember the anniversary better for when I do!

The followup/sequel to the Spidey-verse speculation post.

Warning: "Spider-Man: Far From Home", spoilers!!

Okay, so Far From Home is out now, I've seen it, so I know what's up.
So here we go.

As I said in the "Far From Home", review...

Do I have to throw out all my Spidey-verse theories?? Kinda....and kinda not....It's subtler.

Okay, so here's the spoilers why.

So all the multiverse stuff set up in the trailers?
Bullshit.
Mysterio was lying.

BUT.....

J.K. Simmons pops up in the mid-credits as J. Jonah Jameson.

If J.K. is Jameson in the Raimi-verse and the MCU, that hints enough at multiverse.

Plus, multiverse was introduced in the cosmic trip scene in "Doctor Strange".

So, we don't get direct porthole-ing across the Spider-verse like in "Spider-verse", but we get enough of a hint.

If MCU Jonah is an alternate of Raimi-verse Jonah, that connects the Raimi trilogy.

"Spider-verse", shows flashes of the upside down kiss from Spider-Man 1, and the train stopping scene from Spider-Man 2.

Donald Glover is in "Homecoming", as Miles Morales's uncle, and his license plate is the issue number Miles got introduced.
Donald Glover is on a TV screen in "Spider-verse", wearing a Spider-Man shirt.

A trailer for "Spider-verse", is in the after credits of "Venom", with the caption preceding it "meanwhile, in a parallel universe..".

Stan Lee is in all those universes.

Stan Lee is hanging out with the Watchers in Guardians 2, and Watchers can observe and travel dimensions, so all the Stan Lees are the same one.

So, that connects MCU, Raimi-verse, Spider-verse-verse, and Venom-verse.

What about the Marc Webbs?

Gwen Stacy.
She dies in "Amazing 2", she lives and her Peter dies in "Spider-verse".
Her mere existence is connection enough there.
Plus, again, Stan was in those.

Like I said in the quote above, it's subtler, but it's enough.

Now as to whether Sony is going to re-up their deal with Marvel...I would have to say so.

"Far From Home", leaves us with a big fat cliffhanger that can only be resolved with a Homecoming 3.

J. Jonah Jameson plays a video where Mysterio frames Spidey for his murder, and then outs Peter Parker as Spidey.

That needs a followup.
And Marvel doesn't leave threads dangling, when they have a cliffhanger, they have a plan.
Homecoming 3 is probably being written as we speak.

So, yeah, my theories had to be trashed, but....on another level, they can be adapted to the new situation.

I think Spider-verse 2, and/or Gwen Stacy Spinoff will connect things more.
There was actually a scene in Spider-verse where McGuire, Garfield, and Holland Spideys pop up, but it got cut.
Holland even said he recorded a line for it.

Plus, people in Sony and Marvel are talking a Spidey/Venom crossover.

So, we'll see what the future brings.
The seeds are certainly planted.
We'll see if they sprout and bear fruit.

Here's hoping.

Now, I'll retro-link this to the "Far From Home", review in the quoted sentence.
