Previously...
Maine's theaters were ruined right up to Ghostbusters and Spider-Man, so I had some waiting for disk releases to do....
Anyway, here we go....
Yeah, you knew this had to be my #1.
I said it then, best superhero thing of the year.
It held the title.
Best Marvel of the year. Easily.
I love the shit out of it for being both a fun movie, and for what it does for the Marvel universe, but Shang-Chi is the better crafted and more fun film.
Edges it out by a couple smidges.
5. Black Widow
Marvel's James Bond.
You can argue until the heat death of the universe whether she deserved a "Casino Royale" instead of a "Moonraker" which is what this is, but me, I'll take either one and be happy.
Good mid-tier Marvel.
6. Eternals
Black Widow and Ant-Man know they're mid-tier.
This one tried really hard to be Black Panther or Shang-Chi and didn't quite get there.
I admire flicks that swing for the fences though.
The DCEU is harder to break up into tiers like Marvel, but I'll give it a shot.
Tier 1, Snyder trilogy.
Tier 2, Wonder Woman by itself.
Tier 3, Birds Of Prey/Harley Quinn by itself.
Tier 4, all the rest.
This is the best of all the rest.
Dumb fun that knows what it is.
Nothing on this list is bad.
We got off pretty well this year.
Last time, I said experts said box-office numbers would be back to normal soon.
Spidey just kicked Avatar off the top of the domestic charts, so yeah, we're on our way back to good health.
Here's to 2022 not being another fucking plague year.
Let's get this bullshit behind us already.
