TF/GB: Ghosts Of Cybertron review (MM #148)

Yep, last issue finally dropped!
Here we go....

Transformers/Ghostbusters:
Ghosts Of Cybertron (2019)

Previously with this franchise...

I spoiled the setup in the first issue here.

I won't spoil the finer details of the rest of the plot, but I'll spill the larger arc stuff.

That mural of every Gen-1 Transformer?
That doesn't happen.
It's only Optimus, Ectotron, Starscream, Megatron, Shockwave, and Soundwave (and his tapes).
With the Autobots alive, and with proton guns, and the Decepticons as ghosts.
Every Transformer would have been impossible to manage.
Or, at least a busy mess.

It's a cute but fast little adventure with lots of little shoutouts to the 80's cartoons.
A fun little bit of professional fanfic.
They're hard franchises to mesh, Ghostbusters is funny, and Transformers...has its funny moments sprinkled in there, but it's not known for comedy.
I think they got the mixture about right.
If you're a Gen-Xer who grew up with TF and RGB on Saturday mornings, you'll be happy.

The way it ends leaves it open to an Ectotron standalone sequel!
So, we're getting multiple of these, like Ninja Turtles.

No word on what the next Ghostbusters comic is, but they've got to kill the next 10 months until they can do a crossover with GB2020.

My fan wishes?
Ghostbusters meet Scooby-Doo. Come on, it's about time already.
-and-
Ghostbusters meet He-Man.
The birthday party kids mention him in Ghostbusters 2.
Have the Busters find Eternia with their portal, they have an adventure, then they bring He-Man to that kid's latest birthday party.
But the kid's a teenager now, and he's not impressed.

Well, whatever it is will be a pleasant surprise the way this was.
Hopefully.
