I've torn into why I find food snobbery ridiculous (short version, it all ends up as poop anyway), but here's my bit on culture snobbery. Way I look at it, the things I'm into, horror movies, profane standup, porn, these are just modern versions of an ancient tradition that has always been a thorn in the side of puritans and tyrants. 
Meanwhile, "high art", and "high culture", have typically been subsidized by emperors, dictators, and the church. 
Rebellion against tyranny versus snuggling up to it. 
Gee, I think I see which side has the better moral leg to stand on. 
And if "classy", isn't about morality, then the sum of human goodness becomes about wearing nice clothes, and speaking well, and that attitude has led to nothing in history but catastrophe. 
One need go no further than the antebellum American south to see its worst manifestation. 
Also, I don't happen to think all the beautiful things of the world have been found, captured, and put on museum walls. 
There's treasure left to be found, and a lot of it is hidden in the trash. 
Yeah, the Mona Lisa is nifty, but I've seen it already. 
What about that movie about the killer tire over there? 
What's going on with that?
