Ghostbusters- thoughts on the future. (Afterlife spoilers)

Okay, I'll break this in two chunks...

The films.

We know we're getting more.
Jason Reitman and his writing partner just signed a deal with Sony for more films, and we know it ain't gonna be "Juno 2: Electric Boogaloo".
It's more Ghostbusters.
So minimum, Afterlife is a trilogy.

And Jason Reitman has dropped serious hints we're getting Vigo again in part 2.

So, if 1 was Gozer, and 2 will be Vigo, then 3, I'm thinking an ATC crossover.
If we're sticking with revisiting films, and only films.
Just my theory.
And a fervent prayer, cuz you know I'm an ATC fan, and wanna see it acknowledged in canon.

Ancillary media.

We get a timeline of how and why the Ghostbusters broke up, and Ghostbusting lasted until the 00's, so the IDW comics could totally fit in the gap, and still be canon!
Thus, ATC could still be canon via the comics crossovers!
IDW fans, your faith is rewarded, you haven't been rebooted away like Star Wars Legends fans.

So! If IDW knew this, that could be why their line has been frozen the past year and a half, they need everyone to see Afterlife before they can fill the continuity gap, otherwise it spoils the movie.

So, from the theater release of ATC, that was 3 months later, then 2 months after that.

So!! Using that timescale for Afterlife, that'll be February for the Blu-ray, and then April for something from the comics-verse.

Unless the comics deal with IDW is dead.
BUT....the Transformers crossover ended with "Ectotron will return" so they intended a sequel.
So future plans implies the i's were dotted and the t's were crossed.

So, like I said above, I think the only thing holding IDW back was Afterlife spoilers.
Once the flick is out on Blu-ray, they can assume everyone's seen it, and go for it.

So, what do I think is coming?
I'm thinking Afterlife prequel with Egon wigging out, and running away to become the dirt farmer.
Then they'll jump back to the 90's where the mainline title happens, and it'll be working towards that prequel.
They'll fill in the gap.
And I think they'll wrap it up quick too.

Then we'll get that Transformers sequel where Ectoron comes back in the Afterlife timeframe in-between Afterlife 1 and 2.

I think they'll avoid ATC like the plague.
Unless/until Jason brings it back for Afterlife 3.

Where do they go after they wrap up the classic period?
Once the whole Afterlife trilogy is out, and they know where they can go, infinite adventures of Phoebe between films.

And after that?
I dunno, maybe some RGB stuff.

All of this assumes the only thing we're getting is Jason Reitman directed Afterlife sequels.
We might get that animated kid's movie that got stuck in development Hell.
We might get that TV series.
We might get that Dan Aykroyd prequel to the first one.
We'll just have to see.

Now THAT'S a genuine loss to humanity.

I almost did a gloat-over-Bob-Dole's-corpse post, but I didn't have the enthusiasm or it.
He was a piece of shit, but it wasn't that concentrated un-alloyed evil of the fuckers I've covered before.
I could be convinced by new evidence though.

Bob Dole--well, he was Republican Senate Majority leader for decades, so you would have known what toe xpect...I guess it's not so funny to think of him doing cute Pepsi commercials with Britney Spears and being this kind of cute out of touch old man when he ran for president in 1996 (freaky that he's dead the same year as Norm MacDonald who used to play him), he favored tax cuts for the super rich and wanted far-right SOB Robert Bork on the Supreme Court. (I'm guessing you already know what kind of person Bork was, and if you don't, take a guess.) He's going to end up in the same never never land as John McCain where you sort of have to admit a few grudging positive things about the guy. I can't remember what he said about Trump, or Iraq, but you'll not be likely to convince anyone who loved him that he wasn't that great. His wife was probably worse than he was. At the time of his death he looked like the rapidly aging melting bad guy who drinks the wrong cup in Last Crusade.

I only knew Uemura's name from seeing it a few times, I'd forgotten about him or conflated him with Hiroshi Yamauchi in my mind or someone like that.

Re: the Michigan shooter boy's parents--quite a few very embarrassing details there. "LOL, try not to get caught with the gun"--what is she, 16? I was figuring when I heard they were on the run they'd end up in the same ditch or gulley as Brian Laundrie but no.
