In "Ross", I told a story of a bully my dad beat up as a kid, and how it gained him nothing.
And I theorized on why that was, and looking back, I was actually 98% there already.
It boils down to the tribalism thing.
When a group of people gives you a set of rules, and you follow those rules, and the rules don't work, those rules are fake, and there's a set of secret rules.
And the secret rules are, they will never let you in their little club, because their club is a "from birth", deal.
Cliques are about this, Studio 54 was about this, snooty French restaurants are about this, the whole "old money", vs "nouveau riche", thing is about this, Hollywood is about this, and racism is REAAALLLY about this.
Republicans give blacks the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", speech, and Obama pulled himself up by his bootstraps, and became boss of the country, and Republicans still hated his ever-living guts.
People with a "no ____allowed", sign, or a velvet rope, or a bouncer, or who make themselves into a huddle and whisper mean unfunny jokes while side-eye-ing you, they're never gonna let you in.
Never.
But you don't wanna be there.
Fuck 'em.
If you got in, you'd see how soul dead, talentless, and just a plain drag these people are.
Excluders are telling you with their behavior they're a drag.
Listen to the message, and move along.
And know it's nothing you did.
It's all them.

Also, they're making intentionally horrible movies now JUST so that they can get "good" negative publicity from the Internet.
I'm referring to the Sonic movie and you don't need a link.

They're supposedly re-doing the design of Sonic.
Um....that costs money, did they just make the trailer as an audience test?
Cuz if they made the whole damned movie already, that's gonna double the budget of the fuckin' movie. That would guarantee a flop. Happened to "Solo: A Star Wars Story".
The budget got doubled by the reshoots, and they outspent their profits.
The ugly Sonic wasn't the problem with that trailer, everything else was terrible too.
This is gonna be Super Mario level bad.
Meanwhile, it looks like the video game curse has actually been quietly and sneakily broken by Detective Pikachu.
