Heavy Metal revisted.

This one I've kind of covered already, but it's mostly buried in other posts, and I want to make it handy.

Dirk's story I imagine animated and scored like "Heavy Metal" with Dirk as Den.
Cuz that's what Dirk and Pym found in the deepest guts of Antarctica.
A magical sci-fi kingdom out of "Den" from "Heavy Metal".

Heavy Metal is the perfect comparison!
I had forgotten, the baddies in "Den" worship a God who's really Cthulhu spelled backwards.
"Den" is Cthulhu-verse.

I've spoiled the main plot points on Wikipedia, and it's so good it doesn't spoil it.
It's got time travel, dimension travel, cosmic acid-trippy-ness like "2001: A Space Odyssey" and it came out in 1908.
190-fucking-8!!!
It conjured images on my head of shit from "Heavy Metal" and holy shit, Richard Corben who drew "Den" that got adapted in "Heavy Metal" did the graphic novel of this.

Extra little detail.
Cthulhu's dad is Yog-Sothoth who's a giant cosmic pile of goo, and tentacles, and eyeballs, and glowing crystal orbs.
The Loc-Nar is a glowing crystal orb that ties all the other stories together, and originates in "Den".
So, my head-canon, and Corben may have even intended it, is that Loc-Nar is a piece of Yog.

Anyway! Corben was clearly a Lovecraft/weird-fiction head.
