Goin' keto.

Yep, diet time.

No more candy porn.

Counting calories did fuck-all, starving did fuck-all, I haven't drank sugar sodas in over a decade, I don't devour mountains of cookies, haven't since the 90's, it was time to try something different.
So, I threw away the Christmas candy, and have gone low-carb/no-carb.

So, these are the enemy-

Potatoes.
Bread.
Pasta.
Sugar.
Corn.
Beans.
Rice.
Squash.
Yams.

Fruits are iffy.

These are safe-

Meat.
Eggs.
Cheese.
Green veggies.
Cauliflower.
Carrots.
Eggplant.
Nuts.

...and it's working.
16 pounds and counting.
Minimum of 2 a week.

I have cauliflower instead of potatoes, and cauliflower crust pizzas, and have been making recipes I find online or that friends send me.
I might start sharing my favorites later.

Chinese food makes it easy.
Beef & broccoli (throw out the rice), beef & mushroom (ditto), and egg foo yung without gravy (flour in the gravy).
Subway puts sandwich guts in a bowl (called protein bowls).
Some pizza place I saw on TV puts pizza skin in a bowl.
They make a TV dinner of pizza skin in a bowl.
They make no-carb Chinese food bowls.
There's the aforementioned cauliflower crust pizzas.
You can have any burger you want, you just have to toss out the buns.
Guess you could give them to the parking lot seagulls.
Fries are right out.
I don't miss them.

I don't miss the flavor of bread, but I miss the convenience.
I have to slap lunch meat in a bowl with some cheese, and zap it.

If I get woozy between meals, my snack is a heaping spoonful of peanut butter.
I was going to try to curtail that, but the pounds are coming off all the same, so screw it.

So far, so good.

Stay tuned!

I know that "Halo Top" ice cream is supposed to be keto friendly but it SUCKS SO BAD DON'T EAT IT. Seriously it's got some sort of goo in it. Bad bad.

Avoided.

My favorite keto recipe so far is "fajita casserole".
It's basically chicken burrito guts.
