Wes Craven (1939 - 2015)

Dammit.
This was almost as much of a shock as Robin Williams, and for me personally, as much of a punch in the gut.

I summed up his career pretty well in his Halloween entry two years ago.

I also highly recommend the book "Wes Craven: The Man And His Nightmares".
It's cobbled together from research, and Fangoria interviews, and does a really thorough job of telling his life story.

Me, I feel like watching Nightmares 1 & 7, and "The People Under The Stairs".

Well you know what movie *I'm* going to eulogize him for....hey, how many name directors get a comeback like that in their old age....he was older than people give him credit for....I've had "The Serpent And The Rainbow" in my list for a long time, gotta do that one. I think the original ANOES and "Swamp Thing" are just okay, and I'll grant that "The Last House On The Left" was at least sort of an interesting social document of its time (but abominably poorly crafted--hey, at least Craven admitted so on numerous occasions)

RIP. I guess he ends on "Scream 4," but neither you nor I really care for any of the sequels...
