Masters Of Horror! (Brian Yuzna)

This is a career path that just baffles me.
You'll see why.

From Beyond (1986)

See here.

Writer.
He and Stuart Gordon have remained longtime collaborators.

Dolls (1987)

See here.

Producer.

Society (1989)

The one I decided on this entry for.

His directorial debut.

Clearly, a satire on the rich.
A kid's mom marries into wealth, and his Beverly Hills neighborhood has some creepy conspiracy going on.

Spoilers.
Two words, shapeshifter orgy.

Effects by Screaming Mad George, who also did "A Nightmare On Elm Street 4".

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids (1989)

Yeah, seriously, "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids".
"Honey, I Shrunk The Fuckin' Kids".
THIS is where it gets weird.

Wrote, and produced.

This was a big fucking movie.
How did this happen?
Why didn't it sustain?
It goes right back to b-movies after this.

He must have made an enemy in the business, or something.
There's an interesting damned story lurking behind the scenes here.

Bride Of Re-Animator (1990)

See here.

Back in the director's chair.
One of the worthiest sequels of all time.

He also produced the first one.

Silent Night Deadly Night 4:
Initiation (1990)

See here for parts 1 and 2, the remake, and my comment on the later sequels.

The series abandoned "Killer Santa", in favor of an anthology format like "Halloween III", tried to open up.
This one had witches.

Silent Night Deadly Night 5:
The Toy Maker (1992)

See here again.

Writer.
The one with Mickey Rooney.
Has nothing to do with the poster.
About a horny killer android Pinocchio who wants his creator to give him a dick, so he can get rapey with his unrequited crush.
Mickey is "Joe Petto", the maker of the Pinocchio dude.
Poor Mickey.
"Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", it ain't.

Return Of The Living Dead 3 (1993)

See here.

I kinda like it.
It springboards off the mythology of "Return", the way "Return", launches off "Night".
Kind of its own little movie, really.

H.P. Lovecraft's: Necronomicon (1993)

An anthology of Lovecraft tales.

Yuzna directs the wraparound story, featuring Jeffrey Combs as Lovecraft.

Then, past 1995, it's a schlock death spiral, indeed, the exact same death spiral I omitted from Stuart Gordon's record.

But, here's ones I've already done, so may as well link them up....

Faust: Love of the Damned (2000)

See here.

*Winces* ssss...wow, from "Honey, I Shrunk", to this...he fell ALL the way down.
He must have fucked someone's wife, or sold cocaine to a toddler.

Beyond Re-Animator (2003)

See here.

Damn, he really did this one, after "Bride", being so good?
Depressing.

Well...it's got the famous scene at the very end where a rat fights a zombie penis.
That's pretty memorable.

And, that's Brian Yuzna, for better and worse.

Tomorrow, Ken Russell, and Larry Cohen.
